Cabinet Installer – Commercial Cabinet and Millwork

Job Title: Cabinet Installer

Reports To: Installation Manager

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Position Summary

The Cabinet Installer is responsible for the installation of commercial cabinets, custom millwork, and solid surface products in accordance with project specifications, blueprints, and quality standards. This position plays a critical role in delivering finished spaces that meet customer expectations and company craftsmanship standards. The installer must follow all applicable safety regulations and comply with federal, state, and local employment laws.

Key Responsibilities

- Install commercial cabinetry, custom millwork, and solid surface products according to drawings, layouts, and field measurements.

- Read and interpret architectural plans, shop drawings, and installation instructions.

- Operate power tools and hand tools safely and effectively to complete installations.

- Ensure products are installed level, square, and securely anchored as per specifications.

- Make field adjustments to cabinets and millwork as needed to accommodate site conditions.

- Work closely with project managers, site superintendents, and other trades to coordinate installation timelines.

- Follow all OSHA safety requirements and use appropriate PPE at job sites.

- Maintain clean and organized workspaces and tools.

- Report job site issues, material discrepancies, or installation challenges to the supervisor.

- Demonstrate professionalism and uphold company standards at all job sites.

Qualifications

- Education:

High school diploma or GED preferred.

- Experience:

3+ years of experience in cabinet or millwork installation, including solid surface materials.

- Experience in a family-owned business is preferred.

- Skills:

Ability to read and interpret construction and shop drawings.

- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and job site safety practices.

- Knowledge of proper installation methods for laminate, wood veneer, and solid surface products.

- Valid drivers license and reliable transportation required.

- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment.

- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and perform physical tasks on active construction sites.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

This position requires frequent physical activity, including standing, bending, lifting, kneeling, and climbing ladders. Installers will be exposed to construction environments and must wear required PPE. Travel to job sites is required. Qualifications

Required education and experience:
•    At least one-year experience installing cabinets; or at least 6 months as AG Installation Technician Helper
•    Math skills such as adding and subtracting
•    High attention to detail
•    Clean and neat appearance
•    Ability to read and understand blueprints, floor plans, and shop drawings
•    Team player with a positive attitude
•    Must have a clean driving record with three or less points

Essential Physical Requirements:
•    Stand, walk, use hands and fingers to handle, grasp, or feel objects or controls, talk and hear, reach, bend, and stoop.
•    Ability to lift over 50 pounds.
•    Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
