About this role
Modern Technology Solutions, Inc. (MTSI) is seeking a Senior Model-Based Systems Engineer to join our team supporting the U.S. Navy's Multi-Mission Helicopters Program Office (PMA-299).
In this role, you will support the H-60 Advanced Development (AD) Integrated Product Team (IPT) and contribute to the digital engineering environment supporting the H-60 Service Life Modernization (SLM) upgrade and future maritime vertical lift capabilities.
This is an opportunity to work at the leading edge of Model-Based Systems Engineering, Digital Engineering, and model-centric acquisition—helping transform engineering data into an authoritative digital systems model that can be used throughout the lifecycle of a complex aircraft system.
Responsibilities: As a Senior MBSE, you will serve as a hands-on model builder within a highly collaborative, model-centric Digital Engineering Environment (DEE). You will work closely with systems engineers and technical subject matter experts to translate engineering knowledge into rigorous, reusable, and traceable digital models.
- Build and maintain SysML models using Dassault Systèmes Cameo Systems Modeler/MagicDraw and Teamwork Cloud.
- Translate engineering inputs—including requirements, physical parameters, interfaces, behaviors, and constraints—into standardized system models.
- Develop and maintain SysML block definition, internal block, activity, state machine, requirement, and parametric diagrams.
- Apply sound systems engineering and modeling principles to ensure the Systems Engineering Model (SEM) remains accurate, consistent, and useful as the program's authoritative technical baseline.
- Work within established MBSE modeling standards, architecture patterns, package structures, and configuration-management practices.
- Use JIRA-driven Developmental Change Management (DCM) processes to manage model updates, reviews, pull requests, and configuration changes.
- Collaborate with Digital Environment Leads and engineering teams to connect model elements with external engineering tools and applications, including CATIA, PLM, and simulation/analysis environments.
- Help establish and maintain digital threads between requirements, architecture, design, analysis, verification, validation, and sustainment data.
- Participate in Agile engineering sprints alongside Lead Systems Engineers, technical specialists, government stakeholders, and industry partners.
- Support continuous verification and validation (VV&A) by developing and linking digital test cases in Cameo to system requirements and model elements.
- Develop SysML parametric models that incorporate reliability, maintainability, and supportability calculations and enable automated lifecycle metrics such as MTBF and maintenance man-hours (MMH).
- Prepare and present models during technical working groups, engineering reviews, and digital design reviews.
- Maintain model configuration integrity within Teamwork Cloud, including model access, merges, branching, and conflict resolution.
- Help evolve the program's Digital Engineering Environment and modeling practices as mission and engineering needs mature.
- Work in a Linux-based environment as part of a collaborative Agile engineering team.
Required qualifications:
- Top Secret/SCI eligible security clearance.
- Master's degree in a technical or scientific discipline; or
- Bachelor's degree in a technical or scientific discipline from an accredited institution with an additional four years of recent, relevant experience.
- 4 years of recent, relevant systems engineering experience involving Model-Based Engineering, Model-Based Systems Engineering, or Digital Engineering.
- Hands-on experience with Dassault Systèmes Cameo Systems Modeler/MagicDraw and Teamwork Cloud.
- Strong understanding of SysML syntax, modeling concepts, and systems architecture/ontology development.
- Experience working in an Agile/Scrum/Kanban environment and familiarity with tools such as JIRA and Confluence.
- A solid foundation in one or more engineering disciplines, such as aerospace, mechanical, electrical, software, or systems engineering.
- Ability to translate real-world engineering requirements, interfaces, behaviors, and constraints into well-structured digital models.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- U.S. citizenship.
##
The following experience is highly desirable:
- Experience supporting U.S. Navy, Department of Defense, or aerospace/defense acquisition programs.
- Experience working in a Digital Engineering Environment (DEE) or model-centric acquisition environment.
- Experience developing or maintaining a Systems Engineering Model (SEM) or Technical Baseline Framework (TBF).
- Experience integrating MBSE models with PLM, CAD, simulation, analysis, or other engineering applications.
- Experience with requirements traceability, digital verification and validation, and digital test case development.
- Experience developing SysML parametric models for reliability, maintainability, logistics, or lifecycle analysis.
- Familiarity with configuration management, model governance, model reviews, and collaborative model development.
- Experience supporting complex aircraft or rotorcraft systems.
The pay range for this position in is $110,000/year to $125,000/year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on established government contract ranges, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, and other factors. MTSI also offers a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits, dependent on the position offered. Base pay information is based on market location. Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis. This posting will be renewed periodically until the position is filled.
