Junior Full Stack Developer – Core Banking Reporting, Integration & AI Engineering

Role Overview

The Junior Full Stack Developer supports core banking reporting, application development, platform integration, AI enablement and production support activities across the reporting technology estate.

The role provides hands-on development experience across Python, Java, SAP BusinessObjects and AI technologies, contributing to the delivery of reporting solutions, intelligent automation, system integrations and enterprise applications within a complex financial services environment.

Role Summary

A full-stack developer with hands-on experience in Python, Java and SAP BusinessObjects, capable of delivering reporting solutions, application development, AI-enabled automation, system integrations and production support across the platform.

The role combines BusinessObjects reporting, reporting modernisation, Java integration development, Python engineering, AI solution development and operational support activities.

Responsibilities:

- Application & Service Development: Design, build, and maintain full-stack application components, services, and RESTful APIs using Python and Java.
- Core Banking Reporting Solutions: Develop, enhance, and schedule complex financial and operational reports utilizing SAP BusinessObjects and relational databases.
- AI & Intelligent Automation: Assist in building and integrating AI-enabled tools, machine learning pipelines, and automated processing workflows to optimize reporting processes.
- System Integration: Implement robust data exchange and system integration pipelines connecting core banking platforms, data warehouses, and reporting tools.
- Production Support & Troubleshooting: Participate in level-2/level-3 production support activities, analyzing incidents, identifying root causes, and implementing bug fixes.
- Code Quality & Testing: Write clean, modular, and maintainable code adhering to standard software engineering best practices, including unit and integration testing.
- Database Management & Query Optimization: Write and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, and data models to ensure high-performance reporting and data retrieval.
- Collaboration & Agile Delivery: Work closely with cross-functional teams, business analysts, and senior engineers in an Agile/Scrum environment to deliver sprint objectives.
- Technical Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation for system architectures, data flows, codebase changes, and operational runbooks.

Qualifications:

- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related quantitative field (or equivalent practical experience).
- Programming Proficiency: Hands-on foundational programming experience with Python and Java.
- Reporting & BI Tools: Practical exposure to or working knowledge of SAP BusinessObjects (Web Intelligence, Universe Design) or equivalent enterprise BI tools.
- Database & SQL Skills: Solid understanding of relational database management systems (RDBMS) like Oracle, PostgreSQL, or SQL Server, with strong SQL querying skills.
- API & Web Technologies: Basic understanding of web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and building or consuming RESTful APIs/web services.
- AI & Automation Familiarity: Foundational knowledge or strong interest in AI/ML concepts, LLM integration, or workflow automation tooling.
- Version Control & CI/CD: Familiarity with Git version control and standard CI/CD deployment pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI).
- Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical mindset with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues and trace data discrepancies.
- Communication & Teamwork: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate effectively with both technical peers and business stakeholders.
- Domain Awareness: Prior internship experience, academic coursework, or general interest in banking, fintech, or financial services reporting is an advantage.

Key Responsibilities

Python Development

- Develop and maintain Python applications and reporting solutions.
- Build reusable components for report execution, data extraction and transformation.
- Develop configuration-driven reporting solutions.
- Implement logging, monitoring and exception handling capabilities.
- Develop automated unit and integration tests.
- Participate in technical design discussions and code reviews.

Java Development

- Develop and maintain Java applications, APIs and integration services.
- Develop reusable application components and services.
- Design and support REST-based integrations.
- Support automated testing and quality assurance activities.
- Investigate and resolve application issues and defects.

BusinessObjects Reporting

- Develop and maintain SAP BusinessObjects reports.
- Analyse report logic, filters, prompts and business rules.
- Support migration of BusinessObjects reports to modern reporting platforms.
- Perform report validation, reconciliation and variance analysis.
- Resolve reporting discrepancies and data issues.

Database & Data Engineering

- Build and optimise Oracle SQL queries and database components.
- Support development of data extraction and reporting solutions.
- Analyse and understand reporting data models.
- Apply data validation, reconciliation and quality controls.
- Assist with performance optimisation of reporting workloads.

Integration & Reporting Services

- Develop REST APIs and enterprise integrations.
- Support reporting, reconciliation and data validation activities.
- Support integration between core banking platforms and downstream reporting consumers.
- Assist with batch and service-based reporting solutions.
- Contribute to reporting modernisation initiatives.

Production Support

- Investigate and resolve application, reporting and production issues.

AI & Agent Engineering Responsibilities

- Develop AI-enabled utilities, automation and reporting solutions.

- Support Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) implementations.
- Integrate AI services with reporting platforms and enterprise applications.
- Participate in prompt engineering, testing and evaluation of AI solutions.
- Support implementation of governance and monitoring controls for AI-enabled applications.
- Identify opportunities to automate manual processes using AI technologies.
- Support development of Copilot-based solutions and AI-powered productivity tools.
