EF Education First is excited to offer a Cooperative Education (co-op) program in partnership with a student’s college or university, giving students the opportunity to align their academic and future career goals with full time or part time work experience for a select period of time.
EF offers a multitude of part-time and full-time, 4-6-month co-ops starting in January or Summer, across our travel, language, and education businesses in sales, customer service, operations, finance, and marketing.
Position Overview
The Program Compliance Co-Op (Sales Support), referred internally as an Education Credit Coordinator, plays a key supporting role within the Extensions Team, working closely with the Extensions (sales) Team, focused on compliance, documentation, and operational processes, to ensure au pairs can successfully extend their program year in the United States. A critical part of the extension eligibility process is meeting the Department of State's federally mandated education credit requirement, and this role serves as the operational backbone for that compliance function.
The Education Credit Coordinator is responsible for collecting, reviewing, and approving education credit documentation submitted by au pairs from all of our global markets, ensuring all records are accurate, complete, and compliant with federal program requirements. By proactively managing compliance timelines and communicating clearly with au pairs, host families, and local coordinators, this role directly enables the sales team to move extension conversations forward without delays caused by outstanding education requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Collect, organize, and track au pairs’ education credit documentation and maintain accurate status records in internal systems, ensuring submissions are received before extension eligibility deadlines.
- Review coursework records, transcripts, and certificates against U.S. Department of State requirements; approve qualifying submissions or promptly flag incomplete or nonqualifying documentation.
- Serve as the primary contact for education credit inquiries, managing the Extension team’s inbound queue by responding directly or routing cases to the appropriate specialist.
- Clearly communicate approval decisions, outstanding requirements, and next steps to au pairs, host families, and local coordinators, providing guidance consistent with federal program standards.
- Partner with the extension sales team to share timely, reliable education credit status updates and support extension conversations.
- Liaise with education course providers, keep internal resources updated as course offerings and recommendations change, and monitor submission trends to identify bottlenecks and recommend process improvements.
Qualifications
Required:
- Strong attention to detail with a demonstrated ability to review and assess documents accurately and consistently
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey compliance requirements clearly to a diverse, international audience
- Proven ability to manage a high volume of submissions, prioritize competing tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Highly organized, self-motivated, and comfortable working independently with minimal supervision
- Collaborative mindset with experience working cross-functionally, particularly in support of a sales or client-facing team
Preferred, but not absolutely necessary:
- Proficiency in a second language is a plus
- Experience working with international students or colleagues, or within a multicultural environment
- Experience in education administration, compliance administration, program coordination, or a related field
- Familiarity with cultural exchange programs, J-1 visa regulations, or Department of State compliance requirements
Key Competencies
- Attention to Detail — Accurately reviews and evaluates submitted documentation
- Communication — Clearly conveys requirements and decisions to a diverse, international audience
- Organization — Manages large volumes of records without losing track of individual cases
- Problem Solving — Identifies issues early and works proactively to resolve them
- Cultural Sensitivity — Understands and respects the diverse backgrounds of au pair participants
