Position Overview

ATCO Frontec is seeking a Building Maintenance Technician to join our CHARS project in Cambridge Bay, NU. This role supports the safe and reliable operation of CHARS facilities by completing preventive maintenance, minor building repairs, inspections, and general maintenance activities. The successful candidate will also assist other trades as operational needs permit.

Hiring preference will be given to local residents of Cambridge Bay, NU and/or candidates who qualify as Inuit Land Claims Beneficiaries.

Key Responsibilities

- • Complete preventive maintenance inspections and tasks generated through the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
- • Perform minor facility repairs, including drywall patching, touch-up painting, baseboard, moulding and trim repairs, and minor carpentry.
- • Complete minor plumbing repairs, such as addressing leaking faucets and plugged toilets, within the scope of the role.
- • Identify and correct minor deficiencies within the employee’s training, experience, and authorized scope of work.
- • Assist qualified tradespeople and site personnel as required.
- • Maintain accurate records of inspections, work completed, deficiencies, and follow-up requirements.
- • Follow all health, safety, environmental, client, and company requirements and safe work practices.
- • Perform other duties as assigned, within the employee’s abilities and qualifications.

Qualifications

- • Minimum of two years of experience in facility maintenance, renovations, general building repairs, or trades support.
- • Valid Class 5 driver’s license and a satisfactory driver’s abstract.
- • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and manage assigned priorities.
- • Practical experience using hand and power tools safely.
- • Basic computer skills and the ability to learn web-based applications.
- • Experience using a CMMS or other work management system is considered an asset.
- • Strong commitment to safety, teamwork, and respectful communication.

Pre-Employment Requirements

Final candidates must be able to obtain the required security clearance. As this position is safety sensitive, the successful candidate will also be required to complete applicable pre-employment screening, which may include an alcohol and drug test, fit-for-work medical assessment, criminal record or background check, and driver’s abstract verification, in accordance with company and client requirements.
