Job Details:
Remove bellies from trees, remove combs from bellies and feed them into bacon press. Monitor press equipment and conveyors to prevent jams. Put empty combs on comb stands for transporting to wash area. On the stacking side, must grade bellies according to specs by sorting according to belly thickness, size, wrinkle length, temperature, and overall quality. Monitor bellies for comb teeth while listening for metal detectors. Ensure that any bellies in the metal detector when it goes off are properly graded and stored for later inspection. Use an electric stand up pallet jack to transport loaded pallets to coolers and to move empty pallets to proper locations. Stack full comb stands on pallet and transport to wash area using pallet jack. May need to push loaded trees from freezers to cooler for proper rotation and to supply pressroom area with proper product to press. Tree wash consists of using high pressure water hoses and cleaning agents to remove meat particles from empty trees. Push trees 4 at a time from freezers to press room. Tag and remove any malfunctioning trees for maintenance to repair. Team Members may work in other departments as needed according to production requirements.
Requirements
- All non-discretionary positions will be awarded to the most senior Team Member by department first and then plantwide. .
- Successful bidders will not be permitted to bid again for six (6) months unless promotion to a higher job is available.
- Most senior TM that meets requirement will be given a 2-week trial period.
- Will be required to feed and operate the Press Machines.
- Will be required to stack bellies onto pallets.
- Handle products according to USDA inspections.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The successful candidate(s) must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Must be able and willing to grade bellies that are 10-50 lbs. repetitively.
- Must be able and willing to push/pull trees that are from 250-500 lbs each.
- Must be able and willing to remove bellies from trees and remove combs repetitively.
- Must be able and willing to stand and walk throughout the shift. (8-10 hours)
- Must be able to use hands to touch, handle or feel.
- Must be able to reach with hands and arms.
