About this role
On the floor leader for the DC shop mechanics. Acts as a working leader, ensuring all shop activities are accomplished safely, efficiently, accurately and on time each day. Responsible for the daily performance of the team, including the compliance of Company policies and procedures.
Key Accountabilities Description
Safety / Compliance of the Law
- Champions safe behaviors, including shop cleanliness; actively participates in all safety initiatives, including visual inspection of work areas.
- Exercises proper care while using lift equipment to move hose, and reducer components.
- Ensures equipment is calibrated and properly maintained.
- Detects and actions faulty equipment, defective materials, improper operations and unusual conditions.
- Follows all safety, hazardous and OSHA standards – reports issues
- Carries out policies and procedures, including the Code of Business Ethics, Supply Chain Operating Principles, and Standards of Work.
Problem Solving / Collaborative Relationships
- Performs with a sense of urgency to meet customer needs and deliver on commitments.
- Actively engages with mechanics to collectively resolve issues during the assembly process.
- Completes cycle counts and investigates discrepancies with assistance from Shop CSR.
Continuous Improvement / Lean Concepts
- Uses formal and informal tools and techniques to achieve operational excellence and continuous improvement; maintains a high level of operational knowledge and acts as a mentor for the team.
- Conducts Lean audits of the department and acts on inefficiencies.
- Holds Daily Stand-Up Meetings.
- Maintains a constant focus on Lean fundamentals and continuous learning to improve performance, quality and efficiency of work processes.
Customer Service
- Communicates with customers in a clear, concise, timely and professional manner and follows up as necessary; is always professional and represents the organization positively.
- Dedicated to customer needs and delivers on commitments with urgency.
Shop Standardization
- Leads the team’s daily task work - prioritizing, assigning, directing and monitoring work.
- Reduces complexity; drives standardization in our data and processes; delivers on customer expectations; eliminate downtime.
- Drives improvements in processes to reduce costs, improve cycle time, increase sales/gross profit and satisfy customers.
- Assists with interviewing job candidates, training new associates, documenting on-going training, coaching and evaluating performance.
- Works with Shop Operations Manager to clearly define Shop objectives, ensuring positive results are achieved by the team
- Makes recommendations to Shop Operations Manager regarding merit increases or disciplinary actions for team members based on their performance
- Performs actual work with team members when assigned or required
- Receives inventory, assigns new bins as needed, and ensures all products are properly tagged with description and length as appropriate.
- Hose Order Management: logs orders for scheduling and tracking, releases orders for processing and assembly, allocates products to production orders and release / schedule for assembly, and bill orders.
- Advises Shop Customer Service Representative of production delays that impact customer delivery date expectations.
- Performs other duties as assigned or directed by management
Job Requirements
Qualifications/ Education:
- Equivalent to a high school degree.
- Specialized training in power transmission and fluid power a plus
Business and/or Functional Skills/ Knowledge:
- Persuasive communicator / strong facilitator / structured and logical thinker
- Basic computer skills – Excel, Word
- Requires ability to stand for extended period of time, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs. regularly.
- Lean background preferred
- SAP experience preferred
- Ability to challenge the status quo

- Solid analytical and problem solving skills, including measurement skills.

Experience (years) :
- 3-5 years warehousing, distribution, mechanical experience.
