Job Summary:
The BI Manager leads a team of Finance BI Developers and Analysts responsible for designing, building, and governing the reporting, analytics, and automation solutions that support Finance and business-wide decision making. This position sets development standards, semantic model architecture, and governance practices for the Finance BI team, and serves as the primary escalation point for complex technical issues, cross-functional stakeholder needs, and resourcing decisions. The Finance BI Manager partners with Finance leadership and business stakeholders to translate strategic reporting and analytics priorities into a coordinated team roadmap, oversees Power BI, SQL, data modeling, and Power Automate deliverables produced by the team, and is accountable for the quality, security, and reliability of the Finance BI portfolio. This role manages and develops team members, drives adoption of best practices, and reports to Finance BI leadership on team performance, priorities, and risks.
Job Duties:
- Leads, manages, and develops a team of Finance BI Developers and Analysts, including performance management, coaching, and career development
- Serves as the primary escalation point for complex Power BI, SQL, data modeling, and Power Automate issues that exceed the scope of individual developers
- Owns and evolves Finance BI architecture, semantic model design standards, data governance practices, and development guidelines across the team
- Partners with Finance leadership and business stakeholders to translate strategic priorities into a prioritized team roadmap and resourcing plan
- Reviews and approves Power BI reports, semantic models, DAX measures, data transformations, and documentation before deployment to ensure quality and consistency
- Ensures reports have up-to-date training available for end-users
- Oversees workspace management, permissions, deployment processes, and access controls, including Row Level Security, across the Finance BI Power BI environment
- Manages relationships with data engineering, IT, and other technical partners to secure the data and infrastructure the team needs
- Drives adoption of AI-enabled development practices responsibly, balancing efficiency gains with data privacy, security, and compliance requirements
- Establishes and monitors team standards for version control, testing, documentation, training materials, and peer review processes
- Communicates the status of major initiatives, risks, and resourcing needs to Finance BI leadership and other senior stakeholders
- Exercises diligence with financial information by maintaining accurate results, safeguarding sensitive data, and supporting trusted business decisions
- Builds and maintains relationships with business stakeholders to gather requirements and ensure delivered solutions meet evolving reporting and analytics needs
- Applies branding standards, design principles, and Finance BI development standards to ensure a consistent, professional look and feel across deliverables
- Maintains up-to-date knowledge of Power BI, data visualization, and analytics platform capabilities, and evaluate new tools and techniques for team adoption
- Supports hiring, onboarding, and training for new Finance BI team members

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Education:
- Bachelor's degree, required
Experience:
- Five (5) or more years of experience within Data Analytics, Business Intelligence or Application Development, required
- Two (2) or more years of experience leading or managing a technical team, required
- Experience working with Finance data, preferred
Software:
- Strong SQL skills, required
- Five (5) or more years of experience with, Data Modeling, Semantic Model Definition or Star Schema Construction, required
- Strong SQL query development skills, including joins, aggregations, views, data validation, troubleshooting, and performance-aware query design, required
- Experience developing, maintaining, and troubleshooting Microsoft Power Automate workflows to support reporting, approvals, notifications, data collection, and process automation, preferred

Individual salaries that are offered to a candidate are determined after consideration of numerous factors including but not limited to the candidate’s qualifications, experience, skills, and geography.
National Range: $130,000 - $150,000
Maryland Range: $130,000 - $150,000
NYC/Long Island/Westchester Range: $130,000 - $150,000
