As a Senior Field Engineer - Civil/Structural, you will serve as a critical technical leader during the construction phase of projects, providing engineering expertise that bridges design intent and field execution.

Working directly at project sites, you will help ensure civil and structural construction activities are executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with design requirements, quality standards, and project objectives. Your expertise will support constructability, problem-solving, field engineering oversight, and the successful delivery of complex capital projects across the energy, chemicals, and resources sectors.

The Senior Field Engineer - Civil/Structural plays a critical role in this journey by providing technical leadership and engineering expertise that supports safe, efficient, and successful construction execution.

This role serves as a recognized technical specialist responsible for interpreting engineering designs, resolving field engineering challenges, adapting designs to site conditions, and ensuring construction activities are completed in accordance with project specifications and engineering requirements. Through close collaboration with construction, engineering, quality, commissioning, and customer teams, you will help drive project success while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and operational excellence.

You will be responsible for

- Providing field engineering expertise for civil and structural construction activities across all phases of project execution.
- Interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, calculations, and technical documentation to support construction execution.
- Evaluating field conditions and recommending engineering solutions that maintain compliance with design intent and project requirements.
- Coordinating with engineering disciplines, construction management, project controls, procurement, and quality teams to support successful project delivery.
- Reviewing and resolving technical queries, field changes, requests for information (RFIs), and engineering issues arising during construction.
- Verifying that construction activities conform to approved designs, specifications, codes, standards, and contractual obligations.
- Providing technical oversight and guidance to field personnel, construction supervisors, contractors, and project teams.
- Supporting constructability reviews, workface planning activities, and execution planning to improve project efficiency and reduce risk.
- Monitoring construction progress and identifying technical risks, constraints, and opportunities for improvement.
- Participating in quality inspections, field audits, testing activities, and turnover processes to ensure compliance with project requirements.
- Supporting the development and implementation of corrective actions related to engineering and construction issues.
- Preparing technical reports, engineering assessments, presentations, and recommendations for project leadership and stakeholders.
- Acting as a technical resource for civil and structural engineering matters while mentoring and supporting less experienced engineers and field personnel.
- Assisting with project startup, commissioning, turnover, and closeout activities as required.
- Supporting continuous improvement initiatives that enhance engineering effectiveness, project execution, and operational performance.

What you’ll bring to the role

You are a highly capable engineering professional with strong civil and structural construction experience and a passion for solving complex technical challenges in field environments. You combine sound engineering judgment with practical construction knowledge and the ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary project teams.

Key qualifications include:

- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Construction Engineering, or a related discipline, or an equivalent trade qualification supported by relevant technical training and experience.
- Typically 7+ years of relevant experience with an engineering degree or 12+ years of relevant experience supported by a trade qualification.
- Demonstrated experience supporting civil and structural construction activities on industrial, energy, chemicals, mining, infrastructure, power generation, LNG, manufacturing, or major capital projects.
- Strong knowledge of civil and structural engineering principles, construction methodologies, field engineering practices, and industry standards.
- Experience interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, design calculations, and technical documentation.
- Proven ability to evaluate field conditions and develop practical engineering solutions that support safe and efficient project execution.
- Strong understanding of construction quality requirements, inspection practices, testing procedures, and compliance standards.
- Experience participating in constructability reviews, technical evaluations, and engineering change management processes.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to influence technical and operational decisions.
- Experience preparing and delivering technical reports, presentations, and engineering recommendations to project teams and management.
- Proficiency with engineering software, document management systems, project controls tools, and construction management platforms.
- Commitment to safety leadership, technical excellence, continuous improvement, and sustainable project delivery.
- Ability to mentor team members and provide technical guidance across multidisciplinary project environments.
