About this opportunity
We're hiring two early-career Baseband Developers to join our RU Baseband Software team in Kista. You'll join a small, highly collaborative Layer 1 (Physical Layer) team building the software that runs on Ericsson's radio baseband ASICs and DSP platforms. Our work centers on high-performance, cycle-critical signal processing across uplink and downlink physical-layer functions, directly shaping the performance of 5G networks and future 6G solutions.
You'll work alongside experienced engineers in an open, supportive environment where knowledge sharing, code reviews, and continuous learning are part of everyday work. We're also actively adopting AI-assisted development and encourage curiosity toward new tools and ways of working.
As a member of the Baseband Software L1 team, you will contribute to the development of physical-layer software components that form the foundation of Ericsson's Radio Access Network solutions.
We believe great engineers can learn new domains quickly. Therefore, we value aptitude, curiosity, and problem-solving ability as much as specific telecom experience.
This is an excellent opportunity to build deep technical expertise while contributing to software that runs on real radio hardware and powers connectivity for millions of users worldwide.
What you will do
- Design, develop, test, and maintain software components in C/C++.
- Work with high-performance signal-processing algorithms and real-time embedded software.
- Analyze and optimize software for performance, cycle consumption, latency, and efficiency.
- Collaborate closely with experienced engineers through code reviews, technical discussions, and feature development.
- Troubleshoot software issues and support verification activities.
- Learn how software interacts with specialized baseband hardware and multi-core architectures.
- Apply modern development practices, including AI-assisted engineering tools.
- Gradually take ownership of software components and technical deliveries.
Skills you bring
- Master's degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Wireless Communications, Applied Mathematics, or a related field.
- Strong programming skills in C and/or C++.
- Solid computer science fundamentals, including algorithms, data structures, and software design.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to understand and optimize software performance.
- Curiosity, self-motivation, and a strong desire to learn complex technical topics.
- Interest in modern software engineering practices, including AI-assisted development.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Meritorious experience:
- Signal processing, digital communications, or wireless systems.
- Embedded software or real-time systems.
- DSP programming and optimization.
- Multi-core architectures and performance profiling.
- Knowledge of 4G/5G technologies and Radio Access Networks.
- Up to 3 years of relevant work experience, or equivalent hands-on software development through academic projects, thesis work, side projects, or programming competitions.
