Leidos is seeking an Environmental Scientist – CERCLA Investigation & Remediation to support our growing portfolio of environmental investigation, restoration, remediation, and compliance projects for government clients.
This is a remote position with up to 10% domestic travel.
The Environmental Scientist will work with senior technical staff and multidisciplinary project teams to support environmental investigation and remediation projects, primarily under the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA). The position will focus on technical analysis, technical writing, and preparation of environmental reports and project deliverables.
The successful candidate will have strong technical writing and analytical skills, experience with CERCLA investigation and remediation projects, and the ability to translate complex environmental data into clear, technically defensible conclusions and recommendations.
Primary Responsibilities
- Prepare environmental technical documents, including Sampling and Analysis Plans (SAPs), Waste Management Plans, Uniform Federal Policy for Quality Assurance Project Plans (UFP-QAPPs), Health and Safety Plans (HASPs), subcontractor statements of work, Remedial Investigation/Feasibility Study (RI/FS) reports, and other project deliverables.
- Analyze and interpret chemical, geologic, geotechnical, engineering, and other environmental data to support site characterization, remedial decision-making, and project reporting.
- Develop Conceptual Site Models (CSMs) and technical data presentations, including maps, cross-sections, tables, figures, and other visualizations.
- Support the development, evaluation, and selection of remedial alternatives and site exit strategies.
- Compile, evaluate, and report environmental data in accordance with project quality assurance requirements and applicable federal, state, and client requirements.
- Develop data-driven conclusions and recommendations and help maintain consistency and technical quality across environmental project deliverables.
- Coordinate with environmental scientists, engineers, geologists, project managers, subcontractors, and other technical professionals.
- Perform work in accordance with approved project plans, procedures, and Leidos and client environmental, quality, health, and safety requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Geology, Environmental Engineering, Earth Science, Environmental Science, or a related field with 6+ years of relevant experience, or a master's degree with 4+ years of relevant experience.
- Experience supporting CERCLA Preliminary Assessments/Site Inspections (PA/SI), Remedial Investigations/Feasibility Studies (RI/FS), or equivalent RCRA investigation and remediation projects.
- Knowledge of environmental site characterization, remediation technologies, data requirements, and applicable federal and state environmental regulations.
- Experience interpreting complex environmental data, developing Conceptual Site Models (CSMs), and developing technically supported conclusions and recommendations.
- Strong technical writing experience preparing environmental reports, plans, and other technical deliverables.
- Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Project.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel domestically up to 10% of the time.
Preferred Qualifications
- Field experience supporting environmental site characterization, investigation, or remediation activities.
- Professional certification or progress toward certification in a relevant discipline, such as PG, GIT, EIT, CPSS, or a related credential.
- Current or previous 40-hour HAZWOPER certification in accordance with OSHA 29 CFR 1910.120.
- Experience supporting federal environmental investigation, remediation, or restoration programs.
Must be able to pass a Public Trust background investigation. U.S. Citizenship or U.S. Permanent Resident status is required.

## Pay Range:
Pay Range $73,450.00 - $132,775.00
