Position Summary
The Server provides friendly, personable, knowledgeable, and hospitable service of food and beverage in accordance with established quality and timing standards. Servers are expected to maintain a high level of cleanliness, efficiency, and guest awareness throughout every shift.
Responsibilities
- Interact with guests and coworkers in a friendly, professional, and enthusiastic manner.
- Arrive on time for scheduled shifts, prepared and ready to work.
- Maintain proper uniform standards at all times while in work areas.
- Accurately enter all food and beverage orders into the restaurant's POS system.
- Stock and replenish service stations as needed, including polished silverware and glassware.
- Assist guests with questions about the menu and provide knowledgeable recommendations.
- Continually develop and maintain knowledge of the food, liquor, beer, and wine menus.
- Handle all cash and credit card transactions accurately and efficiently according to company standards.
- Execute proper food and beverage delivery, placement, and removal at all tables.
- Consistently pre-bus and manicure tables throughout the restaurant—not just within your assigned station.
- Communicate guest concerns, questions, and operational issues to the management team in a timely manner.
- Work collaboratively with coworkers, support staff, and management to provide an exceptional guest experience.
- Perform appropriate opening and closing duties, including disassembling, cleaning, and sanitizing workstations after each shift.
- Set up and prepare the restaurant and service team for the next shift's success.
- Practice proper sanitation procedures and follow all regulations regarding the sale and service of alcohol.
- Participate in continuing education, training, and development opportunities.
- Maintain complete knowledge of the food and beverage menus, as well as a strong understanding of host and support-staff procedures.
- Maintain assigned tables and proactively assist guests throughout their visit, ensuring the highest quality dining experience possible.
- Support the overall team and restaurant by stepping outside of your assigned station when needed.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
- Ability to lift and carry a minimum of 50 pounds.
- Ability to properly and safely utilize a service tray for food and beverage delivery.
- Current Food Handler certification and Responsible Alcohol Service certification, or ability to obtain both within the required timeframe.
- Previous experience in a high-volume, upscale, or full-service restaurant environment preferred.
