Director Scientific Content Creation Strategy

Purpose:

The Director Scientific Content Creation Strategy and Excellence is responsible for shaping and advancing scientific content strategy and excellence across the internal content creation team C3C. Working collaboratively with Content Creation Strategy & Deployment Leads and Content Leads, the role establishes best practices, develops organizational capabilities, and champions innovative approaches that enhance the quality, consistency, and impact of scientific content across Therapeutic Areas. As a trusted strategic advisor and mentor, this role guides the development of customer-centered, multichannel medical resources that support meaningful stakeholder engagement and align with US Medical Affairs priorities. Through influence, coaching, and partnership, the Director drives content excellence, elevates scientific communications capabilities, and fosters a culture of continuous learning and improvement across C3C.

Key Tasks:

- Act as a strategic partner to all TAs, facilitating mentorship and overseeing training programs for Content Creation TA and Content leads to ensure alignment on strategy, best practices and impact measurement by leveraging experience across various functional areas to enhance the quality and scientific integrity of content
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs), best practices, capability documents, and internal/external workflows that align with C3C objectives and systems
- Use external benchmarking and field input to collaborate with the Insights & Analytics team in ensuring the highest quality of content, including digital materials
- Own the C3C scientific narrative standards in close alignment with global team: scientific platforms, lexicon, evidence hierarchy and messaging guardrails per TA, and ensure it stays current as data and the competitive landscape change
- Enable final scientific quality for C3C content, including evidence standards, referencing and annotation, and readiness for MLR/PRT review
- Establish and monitor content effectiveness metrics and leverage insights to continuously optimize scientific communications and customer engagement strategies.
- Facilitate quarterly team check-ins, manage internal issues, and ensure consistent execution across TAs and C3C initiatives
- Own the enterprise content strategy framework and governance model for C3C, ensuring alignment with TA priorities, customer needs, and organizational objectives.
- Lead evaluation and adoption of AI-enabled content solutions, modular content approaches, and innovative technologies that improve quality, speed, scalability, and customer impact.
- Lead organizational efforts to deliver personalization, accessibility, effectiveness, and integration across channels in partnership with the Medical Omnichannel Engagement Lead
- Lead the development of customer research to deliver transformative scientific content assets aligned with customer needs while evaluating innovative ways for scientific content creation
- Serve as central point of contact for collaboration with Global and USMA colleagues, in strategic planning and execution of TA specific content strategy including but not limited to scientific slide decks, field medical tools, training materials, congress-related activities, websites/tools

Preferred Qualifications:

- Expertise in leading teams or leading without authority in a matrixed organization;
- Experience in writing responses to scientific inquiries and putting together scientific communication decks, reports, and materials for educational activities;
- Team player who is willing to teach and bring others along the content generation journey;
- Experience implementing medical communication and congress programs, including omnichannel communication and digital channels/tools;
- Demonstrated AI and digital literacy, including experience applying AI-enabled tools to scientific content development, evidence synthesis, insights generation, or workflow optimization, with appropriate human oversight and adherence to medical, legal, regulatory, and compliance requirements.
- Understand and interpret medical/scientific data and develop strategic messaging and knowledge of pharmaceutical standards, compliance, and regulations;
- Attention to detail and committed follow-through are essential attributes for this role;
- Strong project management skills;

Required Qualifications:

- Advanced degree (M.Sc. or equivalent) in a scientific discipline (M.D., Ph.D., PharmD, preferred; M.Sc. with equivalent experience considered);
- A minimum of 8 years' industry experience in medical communication agency (experience at Associate Scientific Director level or above preferred) or a pharmaceutical company with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in Content Creation;

Employees can expect to be paid a salary between $185,440.00 - $278,160.00. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant).  Additional benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc.

This salary range is merely an estimate and may vary based on an applicant’s location, market data/ranges, an applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors.
