Position Summary :
The Sr. Medical Writer leads the development of peer-reviewed publications and abstract/podium presentations, as well as manages the company's scientific literature library. The role translates clinical research data from musculoskeletal and neuromodulation devices into high-quality meeting abstracts, podium and poster presentations, and journal manuscripts.
The Sr. Medical Writer works directly with key opinion leaders, study investigators, site personnel, and internal teams in both content development and review. As owner of the company library, this individual keeps the reference collection, publication records, and literature resources accurate, current, and compliant, so that colleagues across Scientific Affairs, Marketing, Product Development, and Regulatory Affairs can find and use the evidence they need.
Essential Functions :
- Write, edit, and proofread meeting abstracts, podium and poster presentations, book chapters, and peer-reviewed journal manuscripts; generate white papers and research summaries as needed.
- Tailor each deliverable to its target audience, journal or congress, and publication medium, including adherence to author instructions and formatting guidelines.
- Act as primary liaison with authors, investigators, and key opinion leaders from first draft through author review, submission, peer-review response, and resubmission.
- Collaborate with Data Analytics and Data Management to interpret results accurately and present data clearly in text, tables, and figures.
- Perform targeted literature reviews to frame research questions, support discussion sections, and position study findings.
- Manage submissions through online journal and conference systems, including cover letters, disclosures, and copyright or license forms.
- Ensure publications follow Good Publication Practice (GPP), ICMJE authorship criteria, and applicable reporting guidelines (e.g., CONSORT, STROBE, PRISMA).
- Manage the company’s scientific library, including the central reference database (EndNote or equivalent), shared literature folders, and the archive of company-supported publications and presentations.
- Process full-text requests from internal teams; manage document delivery, journal subscriptions, and database access.
- Monitor the literature for new publications on company products, competitors, and key therapeutic areas; circulate literature alerts and summaries to stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain library procedures, naming conventions, and search strategies; train colleagues on library tools and scientific search engines (PubMed, Google Scholar).
- Support literature searches and reference packages for Marketing, Product Development, and Regulatory Affairs as requested.
- Partner with Marketing, Product Development, and Regulatory Affairs to ensure scientific communications are accurate, balanced, and aligned with evidence strategy.
- Contributes to a highly collaborative and scientifically rigorous team culture by actively participating in team meetings, providing scientific insights, identifying project-related risks and opportunities, and making recommendations to support sound decision-making. Demonstrates adaptability, initiative, and a solutions-oriented approach while partnering with cross-functional teams, sharing expertise, contributing to the development and advancement of clinical research programs, and supporting departmental initiatives and organizational priorities as needed.

Qualifications :
- Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience in clinical and/or preclinical science with a Bachelor’s degree; or 3 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD without experience; or equivalent work experience
- Demonstrated track record of writing abstracts and peer-reviewed manuscripts that were accepted or published
- Strong command of medical terminology and the ability to interpret clinical study data and basic statistics
- Strong project management; able to run multiple publications at once against firm deadlines
- Advanced proficiency with EndNote (or equivalent reference manager), MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and scientific search engines (PubMed, Google Scholar)
- Experience with online journal and conference submission systems
- Preferred experience managing a scientific library, reference database, or literature service
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
