About this role

Summary

Research Technician I position available in the Department of Cell Biology, Neurobiology, and Anatomy. The successful applicant will study the molecular mechanisms that guide liver development. Research projects combine stem cell differentiation models with state-of-the-art genomic and molecular tools to investigate how changes in DNA organization regulate gene activity as cells acquire a liver fate.We welcome highly motivated and well-organized individuals capable of managing daily laboratory tasks, including inventory management and supply ordering, and performing tissue culture and molecular biology assays. Applicants should have general interests in cell biology, gene regulation, and embryonic development.

Primary Responsibilities

- Maintain and differentiate stem cell lines using standard tissue culture procedures.
- Perform routine molecular biology techniques
- Preparing buffers, dilutions, or stock solutions for routine assays and cell culture
- Maintain accurate notebook and data records for assays
- Ordering of reagents and supplies and ordering record management

- Participate in weekly meetings with principal investigator and other lab members
- Demonstrate good organizational and time management skills

Knowledge – Skills – Abilities

- Knowledge of biology, chemistry, mathematics, documentation, and records management.

- Data utilization, complex problem solving, critical thinking, resource management, and writing skills.

Qualifications

Appropriate experience may be substituted for education on an equivalent basis.

Minimum Required Education:        Bachelor’s degree

Minimum Required Experience:       No experience required

Sensory Acuity

Ability to detect and translate speech or other communication required. May occasionally require the ability to distinguish colors and perceive relative distances between objects.
