Description
Amazon's Legal Department is looking for a talented attorney to support the transformation of Australia’s technology landscape through a strategic cloud initiative.
Key job responsibilities
This Associate Corporate Counsel will support various AWS teams across infrastructure, product and security. The role involves working with customers, business and other stakeholder teams to provide day-to-day counselling, contribute to projects, negotiate contracts, and devise strategy to accelerate the development of digital infrastructure and cloud services. You will also support security governance and assurance, compliance and risk management functions. You will develop strategies for handling legal issues in creative, business-centric ways and build processes that address risk while allowing the business flexibility and freedom to move quickly.
The successful candidate must be inquisitive, enthusiastic about technology, enjoy working hard and being continually challenged, and demonstrate sound judgment even in ambiguous situations.
Some travel, domestic and international, will be required.
Basic Qualifications
- Applicants must be Australian citizens and hold or be eligible to obtain an Australian Government security clearance, with the ability to successfully complete an Organisational Suitability Assessment. For more information visit www.agsva.gov.au.
- Law degree (LL.B., J.D. or equivalent)
- Admitted to practice law in Australia or another common law jurisdiction
- 2+ years of post-admission legal experience gathered in-house or in private practice
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in the legal and commercial environment of cloud computing, digital infrastructure, cybersecurity, telecommunications or equivalent industries
- Familiarity with Australian government security frameworks, policies and standards (e.g., PSPF, ISM, DSPF).
- Experience with public sector procurement and/or engagement with government, policy-makers and regulators
