Design Architect | Intermediate to Senior

What We're Looking For

We are looking for design talent, values alignment, software proficiency, a collaborative and positive spirit, and a drive for excellence. You will bring confidence, competence and warmth when working with clients and consultant teams. You will also be committed to learning and to contributing to our work and culture. We are committed to sustainability and to rigorous, quiet design. Our primary structures are bio based, most often timber. Timber experience is preferred but not required.

What You ‘ll Do

- Develop design concepts and carry them through to built work
- Lead or support project teams through all phases
- Work directly with clients, consultants and authorities
- Mentor younger staff (senior level)
- You will work closely with the principals and project teams on projects that put design quality, wood construction and climate responsibility first.

What You Bring

- Intermediate: 5 to 7+ years of experience. Senior: 10+ years
- Registered architect, or working toward registration (intermediate)
- A portfolio that shows strong design thinking and built work
- Working knowledge of building codes and construction detailing
- Exceptional skill with Revit, Sketchup, Bluebeam, AI tools, Adobe Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator
- Clear communication and good judgement
- Mass timber or sustainable design experience is an asset

A sample of our current projects include a Museum, a Federal museum research lab, Schools, Daycare, Firehall, a large tech company HQ in California, a helicopter terminal, an electric boat building company, a surf park, a restaurant, several not for profit projects focused on children, education and health, indigenous collaborations and projects, Ronald McDonald House, large housing development in the Netherlands, a large sports, library, pool, theatre, restaurant and art gallery project in Sweden and affordable housing.

Salary Range: $80,000 – $120,000, Commensurate with experience and qualifications.
