Senior Congressional Investigations Advisor
Cooley is seeking a Senior Congressional Investigations Advisor to join the congressional investigations practice group.

Hybrid Schedule Philosophy: As part of the Cooley culture, we recognize and appreciate the value of being together, in person, to build comradery with others in the office and to be a contributing member of the Cooley office. However, we also appreciate the benefits and flexibility that come from remote working. As such, the default assumption for employees and partners is a hybrid schedule: some in-office presence and some work from home days.
Position summary: The Senior Congressional Investigations Advisor will work closely with the congressional investigations practice group to monitor, analyze and translate fast-moving Capitol Hill oversight activities, committee hearings and legislative developments into strategic client communications, intelligence updates, and promotional and marketing opportunities. Specific duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Position responsibilities:
· Independently draft client alerts and intelligence updates.
· Attend and summarize congressional oversight hearings.
· Track hearings, congressional letters, investigations, industry trends and current events.
· Exhibit strong understanding of congressional committees, legislative processes and government investigations.
· Regularly conduct heavy and complex research and share findings with the practice group.
· Draft client‑facing talking points, briefings, client alerts, letters, and other materials as requested.
· Produce regular updates highlighting congressional investigations, media coverage, and other client‑relevant developments for the practice group.
· Schedule and/or attend meetings for and with members of the Congressional Investigations team, our clients, and with members of Congress as needed.
· Work with the marketing and client development team to assist with content preparation for client pitches and other marketing materials.
· Establish credibility and trust with internal and external stakeholders.
· Identify areas for continued process improvement and efficiency by generating innovative ideas and solutions.
· All other duties as assigned or required.
Skills and experience:
Required :
· After orientation at Cooley LLP, exhibit proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite, iManage and other firm applications
· Ability to work extended and/or weekend hours, as required
· Ability to travel, as required
· 7+ years of professional experience working in government investigations, public policy, journalism or Capitol Hill operations
· Bachelor’s degree
Preferred :
· JD helpful
· Prior congressional investigations and congressional research experience

The expected annual pay range for this position with a full-time schedule is $160,000 - $200,000. Please note that final offer amount will be dependent on geographic location, applicable experience and skillset of the candidate.
