About this role
Barnes Aerospace is seeking a Director of Global Commodity Management to lead global commodity strategy, strategic supplier relationships, and
commercial performance across the aerospace supply base. This leader will manage and develop Regional Commodity Managers, strengthen supply
continuity, and deliver cost, quality, delivery, and risk-to-revenue outcomes in partnership with Barnes Aerospace operations and customers.
Core Responsibilities:
Lead the global commodity-management organization for direct materials, special processes, outsourced services, tooling, and strategic indirect categories supporting Barnes Aerospace operations.
Lead, coach, and develop Regional Commodity Managers, who report directly to this position, while setting common global strategies, governance, performance expectations, and capability standards.
Develop and execute global commodity strategies that align customer demand, manufacturing capacity, supplier capability, cost, quality, delivery, and supply-continuity requirements.
Own global sourcing, supplier-selection, and negotiation strategies; negotiate and implement long-term agreements, non-disclosure agreements, and required customer, quality, regulatory, and export-control flow-downs.
Build and maintain should-cost, clean-sheet, PPV, inflation, surcharge, and market-index analyses; deliver measurable productivity, site level cost-reduction, working-capital, and commercial-risk mitigation results.
Lead strategic supplier relationships, executive business reviews, supplier scorecards, corrective actions, recovery plans, and performance escalation across the global supply base.
Manage supplier capacity, lead times, long-lead material exposure, dual-source strategies, business-continuity plans, geopolitical risk, trade compliance, and other supply-continuity risks.
Partner with Engineering, Quality, Operations, Finance, Commercial, and Program Management to lead RFQs, RFPs, make-buy decisions, qualification activities, supplier transitions, and new-product-introduction sourcing.
Govern global demand and supply reviews to manage demand changes, supplier commitments, expedites, inventory exposure, and excess or obsolete material.
Lead strategic contract reviews to protect Barnes from schedule, quality, warranty, liability, price-escalation, and risk-to-revenue exposure.
Standardize global sourcing processes, supplier-data governance, and KPI reporting through MRP/ERP, Coupa, Power BI, and other digital tools.
Represent Global Supply Chain in executive reviews, customer and supplier discussions, M&A sourcing integration, and cross-functional transformation initiatives.
Ability to work on ITAR programs and able to support SBLO programs.
Travel of 20-40% may be required.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, Finance, or a related field, plus ten (10) or more years of progressive aerospace procurement, strategic sourcing, or commodity-management experience.
Five (5) or more years of people leadership experience, including leading geographically dispersed teams, developing leaders, and driving accountability through common operating rhythms and metrics.
Demonstrated global aerospace experience managing direct materials, special processes, outsourced services, and complex tiered supply chains.
Demonstrated success developing and executing global commodity strategies, negotiating complex agreements, and delivering cost, cash, quality, delivery, and risk-reduction results.
Advanced expertise in aerospace supplier qualification and performance management, including AS9100, Nadcap, customer flow-downs, corrective action, supplier risk, and quality-system requirements.
Working knowledge of global trade compliance, customs, Incoterms, sanctions, restricted-party screening, export controls, duty/tax considerations, and responsible sourcing requirements.
Experience managing raw-material market exposure and commercial terms, including indices, inflation, surcharges, price protection, productivity, rebates, and customer/supplier pass-through provisions.
Proven ability to lead cross-functional sourcing decisions involving Engineering, Quality, Operations, Finance, Commercial, and program teams; strong executive-level negotiation and communication skills.
Advanced analytical capability using MRP/ERP, Excel, and presentation tools to manage demand, supply, supplier commitments, and executive-ready business cases.

Experience using Coupa for supplier onboarding, sourcing, contract lifecycle management, risk management, and supplier performance
reporting.
Advanced Power BI experience to develop, analyze, and communicate supplier, spend, savings, risk, and performance metrics.
Experience leading global aerospace commodity strategies, supplier consolidation, supply-base resilience, and strategic sourcing integration
for acquisitions or major operational changes.
Knowledge of environmental, product-compliance, and responsible-sourcing requirements, including REACH, RoHS, conflict minerals, and
related customer requirements.
