NewsNation is currently seeking a driven, experienced, and proactive part-time Associate Director to join our team in the New York Bureau. As an Associate Director, you will keep time, manage traffic rundowns, cue video, and serve as the main point of contact for Master Control during live and pre-taped broadcasts.
Key Responsibilities :
• Assist the Director during live and pre-taped productions by timing elements, triggering graphics, and coordinating feeds.
• Traffic video and graphic elements in rundowns and cue video via Bit Central playout systems.
• Coordinate directly with Master Control to confirm commercial break times and manage adjustments when breaks are preempted for breaking news.
• Collaborate closely with Line Producers to monitor show and segment timing.
• Perform other related control room duties as assigned by the Director or Executive
Qualifications & Skills :
• Experience: Minimum of 2–3 years of control room and studio experience in a broadcast network or local news environment.
• Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with newsroom computer systems (e.g., iNews, ENPS) and automated production control systems is a strong plus.
• Soft Skills: Exceptional communication skills, high attention to detail, and the ability to multitask effectively in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment.
• Flexibility: Availability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, early mornings, late nights, and holidays, with potential overtime as news situations demand.
• Union Requirement : This is a Directors Guild of America (DGA) position; union membership in good standing is required. Compensation:
• Hourly Rate: $65.00 – $75.00/hr (commensurate with experience).
