Work Schedule
Must be available to work any assigned shift , including days, afternoons, nights, weekends, and holidays.
Shift preference cannot be guaranteed.
Available shifts include:
- 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM
- 2:00 PM - 10:30 PM
- 10:00 PM - 6:30 AM
Career Advancement Opportunities
Employees begin their careers as Ground Personnel and receive comprehensive training in rail yard operations. Upon successful completion of both Ground and Hostler training, employees will advance into a Hostler Driver position, operating hostler trucks responsible for moving containers, trailers, and chassis throughout the terminal.
Employees with prior heavy equipment experience, such as operating side loaders, forklifts, hostler trucks, cranes, or other industrial equipment , may be eligible for advanced equipment training. As employees successfully complete training and certification on each piece of equipment, they will become qualified to operate additional heavy equipment within the terminal, creating opportunities for career growth, increased responsibilities, and expanded skill development.
What You'll Do
Ground Person Responsibilities
- Direct crane operators during loading and unloading operations
- Install and remove inter-box connector (IBC) locks
- Climb railcars and set derailers
- Verify container and chassis placement
- Assist with rail yard operations and safety procedures
- Communicate with equipment operators and terminal personnel
Hostler Driver Responsibilities
- Operate hostler trucks within the rail yard
- Move containers, trailers, and chassis throughout the terminal
- Spot equipment for loading and unloading
- Perform equipment inspections
- Follow all company and customer safety procedures
Crane & Heavy Equipment Operator Responsibilities
- Operate cranes, side loaders, forklifts, and other material-handling equipment
- Safely load, unload, and position containers and freight
- Secure loads using proper rigging and load-handling procedures
- Conduct pre-trip and routine equipment inspections
- Support shipping, receiving, and intermodal operations
- Follow eRailSafe, OSHA, and company safety standards
- Work closely with team members to maintain efficient yard operations
Qualifications
Required
- 18 years of age or older
- Valid Driver's License
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb railcars, and perform physical labor throughout the shift
- Strong attendance record and reliability
- Commitment to workplace safety
