About this role
The Wash Bay Attendant is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, appearance, and operational readiness of trucks, trailers, heavy equipment, and shop facilities. This position supports the maintenance team by ensuring equipment is cleaned, organized, and prepared for inspections, repairs, preventative maintenance, and customer delivery.
Working in a fast-paced maintenance and repair environment, the Wash Bay Attendant is accountable for completing assigned work safely and efficiently while maintaining high standards of cleanliness, organization, and professionalism. The position requires a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and willingness to assist with general shop and yard activities while contributing to a safe and productive workplace.
Location Requirement: This position is based out of the Waneta (Trail), BC location and requires regular attendance at that facility.

Compensation & Schedule
$20.00 per hour
Compensation will be commensurate with experience, qualifications, and overall alignment with the requirements of the role.
Schedule: 4 on (Thu-Sun) / 3 off (Mon-Wed) rotation with 10 hour day shifts. No night shifts!
Allowances: Boot and prescription safety glasses allowances to support the purchase and maintenance of essential equipment and personal protective gear.
Responsibilities
- Wash and clean tractors, trailers, heavy-duty trucks, construction equipment, and other company assets.
- Prepare equipment for inspections, repairs, preventative maintenance, and customer delivery.
- Inspect equipment during cleaning and report visible damage, defects, leaks, or safety concerns.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and presentation for equipment, shop, and yard areas.
- Perform general labour and shop support duties as assigned.
- Assist technicians and mechanics with equipment movement, material handling, loading, and unloading activities.
- Maintain wash bay equipment, tools, supplies, and work areas in a safe and organized condition.
- Follow work orders, instructions, and established shop procedures.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, technicians, drivers, and other team members while supporting operational priorities.
- Adhere to all health and safety policies, participate in safety meetings and hazard assessments, and promptly report hazards, incidents, and near misses.
Qualifications
- Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and willingness to learn in a fast-paced industrial environment.
- Strong commitment to safety, situational awareness, and following safe work practices.
- Reliable, dependable, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, time management, and housekeeping skills.
- Ability to perform physically demanding work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions and travel between Salmo and Castlegar locations as required.
- Previous wash bay, detailing, labourer, yard, shop, heavy equipment, or truck and trailer experience is considered an asset; valid Class 5 Driver's Licence, forklift experience, and customer service experience are preferred.
