About this role
Working at Atlassian
Atlassians can choose where they work – whether in an office, from home, or a combination of the two. That way, Atlassians have more control over supporting their family, personal goals, and other priorities. We can hire people in any country where we have a legal entity.
As a P70, your primary area of ownership is cross-domain and cross-functional , and you influence senior management and cross-functional leaders. In this role you will:
- Set design direction for agentic experiences. Define North Star experiences for agent creation and lifecycle. You will help shape Studio strategy, and create cohesive, visually engaging narratives that align teams and unlock roadmap decisions.
- Design systems. Extend and simplify the conceptual models of agents, apps and automations, across platform and maker types, into one coherent experience. Propose architectural improvements that scale to future challenges.
- Design and ship the hardest problems. Lead end-to-end design on the ambiguous, high-leverage bets that need a Principal's judgement on interaction, visual, and information architecture. Maintain an exceptional craft bar and raise the bar for the surfaces you touch.
- Influence long-term product and technical architecture. Partner with PM and Engineering leaders to inform the roadmap, feasibility trade-offs, and future competitiveness. Bring an informed point of view on AI-native patterns, developer experience, and marketplace mechanics.
- Drive research, data, and prototyping at portfolio level. Plan formative and summative research across programs, synthesise insights from diverse sources into clear directions, and champion rapid prototyping and iterative testing as a core team practice.
- Multiply the team. Coach and mentor mid- and senior-level designers, review and critique, and share expertise through org-wide events, resources, and internal thought leadership. Participate in hiring to strengthen the bench.
- Champion inclusive, accessible design. Embed accessibility and inclusive design practices in our systems, patterns, and reviews so the bar rises everywhere, not just where you touch.
- Model AI-native ways of working. Actively adopt and shape how the Ecosystem & Marketplace design team designs with AI, from generative exploration to prototyping to research synthesis.
- Build consensus across senior stakeholders. Persuade through evidence, anticipate stakeholder needs, and rally cross-functional teams around a shared vision. Represent Design in the rooms where the biggest ecosystem decisions are made.
Experience & craft
- 12+ years of product design experience, with meaningful time spent on enterprise, platform, developer, or marketplace / e-commerce products.
- A portfolio that demonstrates cross-product, cross-functional impact; not just polished screens, but systems that other designers and PMs continue to build on.
- Mastery of interaction and visual design fundamentals, and a track record of raising the bar for teams around you.
- Deep systems thinking. You can hold a domain-wide mental model in your head, and you can teach others to see it.
- Strong prototyping instincts (emerging AI tools/code).
Leadership & influence
- Demonstrated ability to influence senior leaders (Director / VP level) across Product, Engineering, and Marketing on strategic direction.
- Experience mentoring and coaching mid- and senior-level designers, and elevating the craft of teams beyond your direct scope.
- Comfort with ambiguity: you find the signal in messy, multi-year problems and turn it into actionable plans.
- Excellent communicator: you translate complex ecosystem, technical, or commercial concepts into stories that land with any audience.
Bonus points
- Direct experience designing for AI-native workflows.
- Experience shipping AI-native product experiences (agents, generative UX, ambient intelligence).
- Familiarity with SaaS commerce mechanics: pricing, packaging, entitlements, quoting, or partner economics.
- Contributions to design community: writing, speaking, teaching, or open-source design work.
