JK–8 Dance Teacher/Choreographer
Part Time / Seasonal
Reports to: Director of Fine Arts and Fine Arts Program Manager
Education/Experience Required/Preferred: Experience working with children and dance training with the ability to teach and choreograph musical theatre dance for young students is required. A four-year degree is preferred.

General Overview

Village Christian School is seeking an energetic Dance Teacher/Choreographer to work with elementary and middle school students in the Fine Arts Academy. This position will teach age-appropriate dance and movement and choreograph musical theatre productions for students in JK through eighth grade.

Potential Responsibilities

Petite Dance Company (JK–1st Grade)

- Introduces students to dance and creative movement

- Teaches beginning skills in ballet, tap, jazz, and musical theatre in preparation for Dance Company Jr.

- Meets once per week for one hour during the fall session

Dance Company Jr. (2nd–5th Grade)

- Allows students to explore multiple dance styles and prepare for the Middle School Dance Company

- Teaches foundational skills in ballet, jazz, tap, and musical theatre

- Meets once per week for one hour during the spring session

- Culminates in a Parent Observation Class; no formal recital

Elementary and Middle School Musical Theatre Productions

- Choreographs one to two musical theatre productions per year

- Productions generally include one elementary show and one middle school show

- Attends required rehearsals, performances, and occasional weekend activities

- Collaborates with directors, instructors, production staff, and Fine Arts leadership

Hours and Pay Breakdown

- This part-time, seasonal position will primarily take place after school

- Dance instruction: $50–$75 per class, based on experience

- Production choreography: $1,500–$2,000 per production, based on experience

Qualifications

Qualifications

- Experience working with children

- Dance training and proficiency in musical theatre dance

- Ability to teach and choreograph age-appropriate material for young students

- Strong classroom-management, communication, organization, and collaboration skills

- Availability during afternoons and occasional weekends

- Commitment to providing a safe, encouraging, and Christ-centered experience for students
