Job Description & Summary

Kia ora,

Be a catalyst for transformation. Shape the future at PwC New Zealand.

At PwC, our purpose is clear: to build trust in society and solve important problems.

This is a place to keep growing. You’ll learn from the best, take on meaningful challenges, and make a lasting impact for our clients, our communities, and Aotearoa.

Ngā kōrero mo tēnei tūranga / About the role

The Audit of Tax (AoT) team supports Financial Assurance by assessing tax positions and tax-related disclosures across approximately 190 engagements each year. The portfolio spans a broad range of clients, giving you exposure to whole businesses and the tax risks that affect their financial reporting.

We are looking for a Senior Associate or Manager to join our Auckland team. The role is suited to someone with a strong foundation in either tax or assurance/accounting who is interested in expanding their expertise. Rather than needing to arrive with experience across both areas, you'll have the opportunity to build new capabilities through technical research, quality review, coaching and live client engagements.

Our work is initiated through an AI-enabled workflow, allowing our people to focus on professional judgement, technical research, quality review, client conversations and resolving complex issues. This is an opportunity to join a genuinely flexible team and help shape the next stage of an AI-enabled delivery model.

Your day-to-day could include:

- Reviewing tax calculations, financial statement disclosures and supporting information

- Managing several Audit of Tax clearances and client engagements at different stages, keeping work moving through technical, client and resourcing dependencies

- Researching technical tax and accounting matters and applying judgement to reach well-supported conclusions

- Building strong relationships with assurance teams and discussing tax and financial reporting issues directly with clients

- Coaching and developing junior team members, reviewing workflows and deliverables, and helping the team resolve delivery issues

- Using AI-enabled tools critically and identifying opportunities to improve how work is delivered

At Manager level, you will take greater responsibility for coaching, review, resource coordination and the delivery of multiple engagements. Strong Senior Associates will also have opportunities to contribute to coaching and quality review.

Ngā pūkenga ka kawea mai e koe, ka whakawhanakehia rānei i tēnei tūranga / Skills you will bring or develop in this role

- Are CA-qualified or working towards CA. Relevant legal qualifications may also be considered, particularly for candidates with a tax background

- Can research technical issues, analyse information, ask thoughtful questions and apply sound professional judgement

- Communicate clearly and confidently with clients, assurance teams and specialists

- Can organise and progress multiple client jobs concurrently, including work at different stages of completion

- Are adaptable, collaborative and comfortable working through unfamiliar, complex or ambiguous matters

- Have coaching, review or team leadership experience, particularly if applying at Manager level

- Are comfortable using technology and interested in working in an AI-enabled team
