Summary

This is a fast-paced, customer-focused role responsible for supporting daily retail operations through exceptional customer service, sales support, order processing, and administrative coordination. The position serves as a primary point of contact for walk-in and phone customers while assisting with counter sales, cash handling, invoicing, inventory support, and accounts payable/accounts receivable processes.

The ideal candidate thrives in a dynamic shop environment, enjoys building customer relationships, can successfully manage multiple priorities, and maintains accuracy while working under pressure. This is not a traditional clerical office position and requires frequent interaction with customers, sales staff, warehouse personnel, and delivery operations.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide exceptional customer service to walk-in and phone customers

- Manage a high volume of inbound customer calls and inquiries

- Process customer orders and create delivery tickets for warehouse fulfillment

- Support counter sales activities, including pricing, product information, and sales transactions.

- Operate cash registers and process cash, check, and credit card payments accurately

- Print invoices, sales orders, and related documentation

- Assist customers with product selection and coordinate solutions to meet customer needs

- Maintain positive relationships with current and prospective customers

- Support inventory management activities and collaborate with sales staff to maintain inventory accuracy

- Process Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) transactions

- Maintain accurate records, filing systems, and customer documentation

- Coordinate with warehouse personnel on order fulfillment and shipment activities

- Assist with warehouse operations and special projects as needed

- Communicate professionally with customers, vendors, and internal teams

- Adhere to company policies, safety procedures, and operational standards

Typical Education

High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required. A combination of education, training, and relevant experience may be considered in lieu of formal education requirements.

Skills & Relevant Experience

- 3+ years of related customer service, sales support, retail operations, office administration, or similar experience

- Previous counter sales or retail sales experience a plus

- Experience with invoicing, pricing, order entry, and customer account management

- Knowledge of Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable processes

- Experience using multi-line phone systems

- Inventory management experience

- Background in turf, horticulture, agriculture, or related industries

- Bilingual English and Spanish skills

- Familiarity with industry-specific software and business systems

- Knowledge of company products and equipment

- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills

- Experience handling cash and processing transactions accurately

- Experience working in a fast-paced, customer-facing environment while maintaining accuracy and professionalism

- Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail

- Ability to effectively multitask and adapt to changing priorities

- Hazmat and DOT regulation knowledge

- Strong verbal and written communication skills

- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, and ratios.

Wage range or rate of pay: $23.00 - $26.00/hour DOE, plus annual incentive plan eligibility
