About the role
As a Children & Families Ministry Assistant (Operations), this is your opportunity to lead and coordinate children and families ministry operations, ensuring programs, volunteers and activities are well organised and aligned with The Salvation Army’s mission and values.
Reporting to the Corps Officers, this is a permanent, part-time role, offering 19 hours a week, based on site in Howrah, Tasmania
How you will make an impact
- Lead and coordinate engaging children and families programs, outreach initiatives and camps that support connection, belonging and faith development.
- Build strong relationships with children and families, creating pathways for increased participation in the life of the Corps.
- Develop and deliver age-appropriate faith and discipleship programs for children aged 0–12.
- Equip and support parents, carers and volunteers to nurture children's spiritual growth and wellbeing.
- Recruit, train and lead volunteer teams, ensuring compliance with safeguarding, screening and child-safe requirements.
- Collaborate with ministry leaders to strengthen mission outcomes while ensuring programs meet safety, compliance and risk management standards.
What you will bring
- A commitment to the Christian faith and mission of The Salvation Army
- An ability to offer pastoral assistance, to offer prayer and to explain the Christian Gospel
- Certificate IV level in ministry or demonstrated equivalent relevant experience, knowledge and skills is desirable.
- A solid understanding of TSA Doctrines & Principles (desirable)
- Capacity to facilitate groups and one to one with a particular focus e.g. faith-based groups
- Ability to work autonomously while contributing positively within a team environment.
- Experience building supportive and inclusive relationships with children and families
- A national police record check is required
- Drivers Licence
- Working With Children Check
