NOTE:
This hybrid position is based at our headquarters in downtown Portland, Oregon. Candidates must reside within commuting distance of the office or be willing to relocate to the Portland metropolitan area. Employees are required to work onsite Tuesdays through Thursdays each week, with remote work flexibility on Mondays and Fridays, subject to business needs. This schedule supports collaboration, connection, and team engagement while providing flexibility for focused remote work.
Position Summary:
This position will play a pivotal role in:
- Serving its internal business partners by working with the Insurance Lead to respond to inbound requests on insurance coverage, assisting with clear communication related to the situation and help advocate for the Company with the brokers and insurers.
- Navigating the practical application of insurance policies to everyday circumstances with the Insurance Lead.
- Analyze data to help support the business in prudent risk decisions.
- Maintain accurate filing systems, policy documentation, coverage information, endorsements, and supporting materials consistent with contractual, regulatory, and corporate requirements.
- Support our Insurance Lead, Risk Manager and executive management as they make critical long-term business decisions to mitigate risk while helping drive growth and value creation.
This person will:
- Ensure transparency and foster trust in with our business partners and internal customers; and
- As a fast-growing diversified utility, we are seeking a highly skilled, self-starter with experience in Insurance, Risk or a related field.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Create and track insurance renewal forms and online applications, analyze and enter insurance data, issue certificates of insurance, research requested information, support renewal activities, and maintain insurance records.
- Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to gather, verify, and submit information required for insurance applications and underwriter requests and help ensure complete and timely submissions.
- Compile certificate of insurance requirements, including coverage terms, limits, endorsements, and named insureds, for company projects, events, and compliance obligations.
- Assist facilitating recurring broker meetings to review open items, market updates, and insurance quotes.
- Support the implementation, administration, and ongoing maintenance of the company’s Riskonnect system.
- Monitor insurance renewal timelines and compliance requirements; identify and escalate issues, risks, exceptions, or data-quality concerns.
- Recommend process improvements that strengthen operational efficiency, data quality, and record-retention practices.
- Complete projects and assignments at the direction of the supervisor & management.
- Respond to insurance-related questions from business units, including Claims, Tax, Rates and Regulatory, Accounting, Safety and others.
- Coordinate communications between the company and external business partners.
- Support departmental invoice processing and create purchase orders and purchase requisitions.
- Review insurance policies, endorsements, binders, and quotations to confirm that terms, conditions, exclusions, limits, and named insureds accurately reflect negotiated coverage.
- Develop insurance procedures, controls, and educational materials, and provide guidance to business units on coverage and claims reporting.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Risk Management, Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. Utility industry experience preferred.
- Professional certification (e.g., ARM, CRM, CPCU) is a plus.
- Minimum 2-5 years of progressive experience in business, preferably Insurance, Risk, or a related field.
- Skilled understanding of insurance, data analysis, risk analysis and proficiency in excel, data analytics, and modeling.
- Experience using and/or maintaining Riskonnect or similar Risk Management Information Systems.
- Experience with SAP and SharePoint is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and Teams.
- Self-starter, curious mindset, strong time-management with keen attention to detail, ability to quickly build relationships.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and negotiation skills. Ability to present complex financial information clearly and concisely.

Base salary range: $81,500.00 - $111,850.00 per year, depending on qualifications
Annual Target Incentive: Level 2, 9.5% target
Targets are calculated using eligible earnings during plan year participation. Payout, if earned, is based on company and individual performance for each plan year and may range from 0% – 200% of target. Targets are subject to change in subsequent plan years. Must be employed by September 30 in order to receive any prorated payout.
