As a Qualcomm Hardware Application Engineer, you will provide technical expertise of hardware through trainings, product demonstrations, and the design, debug, test, and quality support of customer products. Qualcomm Hardware Application Engineers collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess the potential application of company products that meet and exceed customer needs.
General Summary
RF Hardware Engineer provides technical expertise through customer engagement, product demonstrations, troubleshooting, design reviews, and technical support activities. This role supports Qualcomm wireless solutions with a strong focus on both Wi-Fi and capable for Mobile RF technologies. The engineer works closely with customers, Sales, Program Management, and cross-functional engineering teams to optimize RF performance, resolve field issues, and enable successful product commercialization. Responsibilities include RF matching, performance optimization, system-level debugging, certification support, customer training, and on-site technical support. The position mainly covers Qualcomm Wi-Fi RF front-end products and extends support across Qualcomm WBC, Automotive, Mobile, and IEoT RF portfolios. Inter-city travel is required based on project and customer needs.
Qualifications
1. BS/MS degree in Electrical Engineering with 5+ years of RF hardware design and validation experience covering both Wi-Fi and Mobile RF platforms.
2. Hands-on experience with Wi-Fi and Cellular RFFE, including PA, LNA, FEM, filters, duplexers, antenna tuning, RF matching, and load-pull optimization.
3. Experience mainly supporting Wi-Fi (802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/ax/be/bn) and Mobile technologies including GSM, WCDMA, LTE, and 5G NR.
4. Proficient in ADS, Ansys, Python, and PCB layout review tools such as Cadence Allegro.
5. Familiar with Qualcomm development tools including QDART, QSPR, QPM, and related debugging environments.
6. Experienced with Anritsu, LitePoint, Keysight, and other RF test equipment for validation and certification activities.
7. Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and project management skills with effective communication across customers and leadership teams.
Responsibilities
· Provide Qualcomm Wi-Fi RF front-end performance tuning, validation, characterization, and optimization support.
· Perform RF design reviews, schematic reviews, layout reviews, and system-level debugging activities.
· Support regulatory and carrier certification activities including IEEE, FCC, ETSI, operator acceptance, and 3GPP conformance testing.
· Provide Qualcomm Lightning case support with root-cause analysis and resolution recommendations.
· Work closely with customers to optimize RF performance for Wi-Fi and cellular products.
· Collaborate with managers and project leads to develop and recommend technical solutions.
· Lead customer technical training, new product introduction activities, and on-site support engagements.
· Prepare technical documentation, reports, and customer-facing presentations.
Minimum Qualifications
· Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience with 5+ years in Wi-Fi and Mobile RF hardware engineering.
· 5+ years of RF hardware design experience with hands-on exposure to both Wi-Fi and Cellular/WWAN products.
· Hands-on tuning experience with FEMs, filters, duplexers, matching circuits, and antenna optimization.
· Strong knowledge of Wi-Fi 7/8 RF architecture and IEEE 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/ax/be/bn standards.
· Familiar with IEEE 802.11ax/802.11be and emerging 802.11bn standards, as well as regulatory and certification requirements for Wi-Fi 6E, Wi-Fi 7, and next-generation Wi-Fi technologies.
· Familiar with 3GPP and ETSI requirements for GSM, WCDMA, LTE, and 5G NR certification and validation.
· Experience with FCC, ETSI, carrier, regulatory, SAR, OTA, and RF conformance testing.
· Familiarity with Qualcomm tools such as QPM, QDART, QSPR, and related RF debug utilities.
· Ability to provide on-site customer support and travel as required.
· Proficient in ADS, Ansys, Python, and Cadence Allegro for RF and EM simulation.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field and 4+ years of Hardware Applications Engineering or Hardware Design experience or related work experience.
OR
Master's degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field and 3+ years of Hardware Applications Engineering or Hardware Design experience or related work experience.
OR
PhD in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field and 2+ years of Hardware Applications Engineering or Hardware Design experience or related work experience.
