About this role
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Run the functional Discovery plan across all instruments, integration and EOD workstreams; sequence SME workshops and secure the right Bank stakeholders across business, operations and technology.
- Own the BIAN Domain Model — domain landscape, bounded-context definitions and the ACBS-vs-target-rebuild-platform ownership boundary — produced with the architecture team's BIAN specialist and signed off with the Bank.
- Own the consolidated Functional Rule Base — structure, rule classification (core product / servicing / operational control / tightly-coupled legacy) and traceability — integrating input from all domain BAs.
- Own the Capability Disposition (5R) — method and definitions, consolidation of per-instrument dispositions, ACBS-fit gap synthesis, the Murex / derivatives boundary confirmation and the register of open decisions for the Bank.
- Author the Business Case — problem statement, recommended path and rationale, cost-benefit and investment profile, risks, timeline and next steps.
- Own the Business / Domain Risk Register; co-own the Wave Plan (functional sequencing) and the Go / No-Go gate criteria; set the Functional Service Specification standard and NFR / error-handling consistency across domains.
- Assemble the functional narrative into the Decision Support Package and guard cross-artefact consistency, source traceability and option-neutrality.
- Lead the functional workstream through transformation — steer the domain squads, keep the BIAN domain and ownership model current as boundaries firm up, and drive functional input to the architecture guild.
- Evolve the rule base and 5R disposition into build-ready functional specifications as each domain is confirmed; govern the Behavioural Delta Register and functional change control.
- Own functional acceptance across delivery waves and remain the senior functional interface to the Bank; refresh the business case and effort estimates as PoC and wave findings land; lead the analyst pod through build, migration and cutover.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- Deep, hands-on Commercial Lending business knowledge (essential) ; Structured Lending experience a strong plus. Working understanding of Murex; ACBS / LoanIQ product knowledge desirable; South African lending market knowledge a nice-to-have.
- 10–12+ years BA / functional consulting, including lead and team-management roles on complex banking modernisation or core-platform programmes.
- Working knowledge of BIAN service domains, domain-driven design and bounded contexts; able to hold an ACBS / servicing-layer boundary conversation; fluent in a 5R / disposition framework and COTS-vs-rebuild-vs-retain trade-offs.
- Demonstrable business-case and options-analysis authorship for large transformation investments.
- Strong client-facing leadership, workshop facilitation and executive communication; manages distributed analysts and converts ambiguity into decision-grade artefacts.
- Secondary market for commercial loans / deals and the capital-market functions around them — syndication, participations and secondary trading (required for the Engagement Lead seat).
Desirable. Prior legacy-to-target discovery or strangler-pattern engagements; regulatory / finance-reporting awareness (accrual, fair value); prior core-lending replacement programme.
