Leadership Coordinator (Public Safety Training Specialist 2)
This recruitment is for one (1), regular, full-time position located in Salem, OR (4190 Aumsville Hwy SE) and is represented by Oregon Public Safety Association. This recruitment will be used to establish a list of qualified applicants and may be used to fill future vacancies.

What you will be doing:
The Leadership Coordinator develops, coordinates, and delivers public safety training related to leadership development, frontline supervision, and organizational management at DPSST and locations throughout the state of Oregon . While assessing the availability of resources and determining cost effectiveness relating to assigned training programs and projects.
This role will guide, motivate, and counsel advisory groups, contract , part time, agency loans and students for optimum performance , ensuring policy compliance with standards and guidelines.
You will provide oral and written evaluation reports on status of programs and projects, to include recommendations for curriculum development. As well as facilitate workgroups and actively participate in researching, developing/updating , implementing, and evaluating training programs for public safety professionals related to leadership, supervision and management. To ensure programs and projects are meeting the needs of constituents.
This position also provides subject matter expert instruction in leadership, supervision and management courses to public safety professionals of all levels of experience.

About DPSST:
The Department of Public Safety Standards and Training (DPSST) oversees the development of professional standards and the delivery of quality training for law enforcement officers, corrections officers , parole and probation officers, firefighters , telecommunicators, and emergency medical dispatchers. DPSST is also the regulatory agency that enforces employment and training standards for the above listed public safety disciplines and licenses proprietary security managers, security contractors and officers, polygraph examiners, and private investigators.

Minimum Qualifications:
Six (6) years of professional level experience related to the leadership development , frontline supervision and organizational management and/or based on ORS 181.610 through 181.690. Typically, this experience is in the area of public safety (law enforcement officers, adult and youth corrections officers, parole and probation officers, fire service professionals, telecommunicators, and emergency medical dispatchers). Experience must have included delivering structured training sessions or on-the-job training.
College-level coursework related to the subject matter of instruction may substitute on the basis of 45-quarter units per year of experience up to a maximum of three years.
Requested Skills/ Desired Attributes
- Proficient in developing and implementing comprehensive leadership training programs.
- Ability to revise and enhance existing leadership curriculum while staying informed on emerging trends and best practices in the field.
- The ability to travel statewide to deliver quality instruction , resources and provide accessible resources for leadership curriculum to public safety agencies statewide.
- Working experience in public safety such as Police, Fire, Parole and Probation, Corrections.
- Demonstrated expertise creating and sustaining strong and productive working relationships with constituents and staff.
Preferred Qualifications:
Preference may be given to candidates who have working experience in criminal justice public safety leadership roles.
