Due to continued growth and expanding opportunities across Southampton and the South-West, we are seeking an experienced MEP Quantity Surveyor to join our established Cost Management team. This is an exciting opportunity to work on high-profile projects across sectors including infrastructure, education, healthcare, aviation, residential, corporate real estate, and retail, while contributing to the growth of our specialist M&E cost management capability.
Your role
As an MEP Quantity Surveyor, you will provide expert cost management services across the full project lifecycle, supporting successful project delivery while building strong client relationships.
Key responsibilities include:
- Delivering pre- and post-contract MEP cost management services across a diverse project portfolio.
- Preparing cost estimates, feasibility studies, cost plans, and budgets.
- Monitoring project costs and implementing cost control measures to ensure projects remain within budget.
- Leading contract administration activities, including tender preparation, evaluation, and management of variations.
- Providing cost monitoring, forecasting, and financial reporting to project stakeholders.
- Advising clients on key MEP cost drivers, project costs, value engineering opportunities, and procurement strategies.
- Supporting business development initiatives and increasing client engagement across services and sectors.
- Contributing to the growth and development of the Southampton M&E team, with the opportunity to progress into a team leadership role.
- Providing technical guidance and specialist MEP cost advice to internal and external stakeholders.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, consultants, contractors, and project teams.
About you
We are looking for a motivated and commercially focused professional with strong technical expertise in MEP cost management.
Essential
- BSc degree in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
- Working towards, or commitment to achieving, MRICS Chartership.
- Demonstrable experience delivering both pre- and post-contract MEP quantity surveying services.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems and their impact on overall construction costs.
- Experience across multiple sectors such as infrastructure, commercial, residential, healthcare, aviation, or education.
- Sound understanding of procurement strategies and contract administration.
- Ability to advise clients on project costs, value engineering, and commercial risks.
- Experience working directly with clients, consultants, and contractors.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under changing deadlines.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and relationship-building skills.
- Proactive, enthusiastic, flexible, and ambitious, with the ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
