Job Description -
Responsibilities & duties
· Execute medium and large sourcing projects, supplier qualification and benchmarking packages end to end, from material analysis through to qualified supply.
· Lead German-language supplier clarification, negotiation support and project meetings on behalf of the delivery team.
· Analyse materials, drawings and versions using German-language technical documentation, and close specification gaps with client engineering teams.
· Prepare and coordinate structured RFQ packages; obtain, review and document quotations and derive a documented supplier competition.
· Prepare decision-making documents for relocation, discontinuation and second-source qualification in German and English.
· Coordinate sample and prototype procurement and track qualification.
· Track qualification progress and ramp-up to production and adapt affected procurement and material master data.
· Maintain project trackers, milestone documentation
· Act as the on-shore technical and linguistic bridge between the client’s engineering, quality and project buyers and the India-based delivery team.
· Escalate any risk of supply interruption to client teams.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, electronics or production engineering.
Specialised knowledge: Technical buyer expertise is preferred. Must read and interpret technical drawings, tolerances and specifications.
Skills
· Technical buying in German and English;
· Quotation comparison, cost structure analysis and negotiation support.
· Supplier qualification.
· Project tracking across multi-month qualification cycles with shifting scope.
· Stakeholder communication with German-speaking engineering and quality functions.
Systems and tools
· SAP MM or purchasing module; JIRA; Excel at advanced level.
· PowerPoint for decision documents; PLM or drawing repositories.
· SharePoint and Teams.
Language, experience and working hours
Language: German at B2 minimum, C1 preferred, as project meetings and most drawings and specifications are in German. Business English, written and spoken, is required.
