The Role
As a Systems Engineer, you’ll provide systems engineering support to QinetiQ aerospace projects and programmes covering a wide range of air platforms including UAS. The role will involve a range of aerospace technologies and domains from avionic systems through flight performance to design modifications. The role holder will be required to technically lead small projects ensuring application of correct processes, methods and tools.

Day-to-day, you’ll work as a member of a Systems/Project Engineering team, assisting with the leadership and management of engineering and technical teams to deliver aerospace domain engineering outputs that meet the customer’s requirements.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Ensuring delivery of integrated technical activities to contracted time, cost and quality

- Ensuring a consistent approach to the integration of engineering outputs to meet the overall project objectives

- Ensuring consistency of technical processes, methods and tools in accordance with the QinetiQ BMS to meet customer requirements

- Assisting with the coordination of bids and estimates, generation of Technical Delivery Plans and work breakdown structures to support project cost plans and bids

- Assisting with the identification of project technical risks and assisting the Project Manager with the management of them

- Effective capture and analysis of customer requirements

Essential experience of the Systems Engineer:

- Working knowledge of general Systems Engineering principles

- Aerospace or related engineering background

- Technical experience throughout the air vehicle life cycle

- Knowledge of aircraft certification and systems design

- Ability to make sound judgements on technical solutions

- Excellent people management and communication skills

Essential qualifications for the Systems Engineer:

- Recognised aerospace related learning to at least HNC standard or equivalent

- Engineering degree (desirable)

This role is 37 hours per week based at our Amesbury (Boscombe Down) site with a minimum average site attendance of three days per week. Travel to other QinetiQ and customer sites will be expected.

Boscombe Down

MOD Boscombe Down is a unique operational site featuring the longest military runway in the UK. Primarily focusing on providing testing, evaluation and support services for aviation and aerospace systems. Renowned for its extensive flight testing capabilities the site plays a vital role in the UK’s aviation defence contributing to the development, testing and airworthiness of military aircraft enhancing operational readiness and effectiveness.

Please note that all applicants for this role must be eligible for SC clearance, as a minimum.
