Manager, Software Engineering

Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Software Engineering Manager to lead the design, development, modernization, and support of scalable, high-volume applications within the Card Payments ecosystem.
The ideal candidate will bring a combination of strong technical leadership, people management, Java engineering expertise, payment domain knowledge, and AI-driven engineering practices.
Key Expectations
• Lead and mentor a team of software engineers, technical leads, and senior developers.
• Drive end-to-end delivery of enterprise-scale Java applications and microservices.
• Provide technical leadership for architecture, design reviews, code quality, security, and operational excellence.
• Build and support highly available, resilient, and scalable payment processing platforms.
• Partner with Product, Architecture, Operations, and Business teams to deliver strategic initiatives.
• Champion Agile, DevOps, and cloud-native engineering practices.
Technical Expertise
• Strong hands-on experience with Java 11/17+, Spring Boot, Microservices, REST APIs, Kafka, and Distributed Systems.
• Experience with AWS/Azure, Kubernetes, Docker, CI/CD, and Observability platforms.
• Deep understanding of modern software architecture, cloud transformation, and platform modernization.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership
• Lead the design and development of enterprise-scale Java applications and microservices.
• Drive architecture discussions and technical decision-making.
• Ensure engineering best practices, coding standards, security, and performance optimization.
• Review system designs, code quality, and production readiness.
• Champion modernization initiatives and cloud-native development.
People Management
• Manage and mentor a team of software engineers and technical leads.
• Conduct performance reviews, career development discussions, and coaching sessions.
• Support hiring, onboarding, succession planning, and talent development.

• Own end-to-end delivery of projects and releases.

Required Experience
• 10+ years of software engineering experience.
• 3+ years of people management experience.
• Proven experience leading Java development teams.
• Experience delivering large-scale distributed systems.
• Strong background in Agile/Scrum methodologies.
• Experience working with cloud-native architectures and microservices.
• Deep understanding of card payments, transaction lifecycles, and payment network operations.
• Ability to translate business and payment processing requirements into scalable technical solutions.
• Experience leading engineering teams responsible for critical payment platforms and customer-facing payment services.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills for resolving complex payment processing and settlement issues.
• Familiarity with modernization of legacy payment systems into cloud-native microservices architectures.
