You will play a key role in shaping the way governance, policy, and strategic initiatives are developed and executed across the province. As a Senior Policy Analyst, you will work closely with senior leaders and departments across GNB to ensure streamlined processes and informed decision-making. The Governance branch is a diverse team responsible for working across GNB to provide governance advice, support on appointments to provincial agencies, boards and commissions (ABCs), ensure accountability requirements for Crown bodies, as well as to lead initiatives and support policy proposals requiring Cabinet approval.

What you will do:

In this role, you’ll use your expertise to analyze complex information, engage with stakeholders, and provide innovative solutions that drive meaningful change. Working with the Governance branch, you’ll contribute to effective policy development and enable smooth operations across GNB by delivering sound advice, strategic direction, and collaborative problem-solving.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Providing process oversight on appointments to ABCs including coaching and guidance to departments/agencies to ensure effective management.
- Working with departmental staff including senior officials, as well as the Premier’s Office to provide advice and recommendations on appointments.
- Analyzing and providing advice on existing and proposed legislation related to governance.
- Working with departments to inform proposals for government decision making relating to policy, legislative and regulatory proposals.
- Providing advice, briefing materials, presentations and other recommended courses of action, including identifying risks and opportunities to senior leadership.
- Leading and managing departmental and intradepartmental initiatives.
- Promoting and supporting clear communication s and effective working relationships across the organization.

Essential Qualifications

- Minimum bachelor’s degree and five years professional experience in the field of project coordination, research, and policy analysis, e.g., Social Sciences, Public Administration, etc.
- Highly organized with a strong attention to detail and the ability to manage daily workload, establish priorities and work independently
- Experience in project and process management
- Demonstrated ability in organizing and supporting delivery of training, workshops, surveys, focus groups, consultations, events, including using relevant innovative technology
- Superior interpersonal and communication skills and professionalism in all interactions with senior leaders, departmental policy teams and others
- Ability to work across various organizational departments, fostering efficiency, teamwork, collaboration, and leadership.

Preference may be given to candidates that demonstrate:

- Experience in facilitating interdepartmental collaboration.
- Experience in machinery and process of government.
- Experience in project management.
- Coursework in public administration.
- Experience dealing with confidential information.
- Experience in human resources and HR processes.

Subject to the response to this competition, candidates may be required to demonstrate on their application the asset qualifications in addition to the essential qualifications in order to be given further consideration.

Salary:

Pay Band 5 – $ 68, 614 to $95, 810 per annum
