Who we are? Benbowopka Treatment Centre is a culturally based residential treatment centre, helping people heal from substance use and past trauma by reconnecting with Anishinaabe culture and spiritual practices.

The opportunity: Under the direction of the Administrative Supervisor, the Casual Client Support Worker will be responsible for duties regarding the basic supervision of the clients and the Centre.  The Casual Client Support Worker will be responsible to report all matters pertaining to the day-to-day operation of the Centre to their immediate supervisor and for ensuring that matters of importance regarding clients are communicated to the counselling staff on a timely basis.

What you need to bring with you:

Good oral and written communication skills

Knowledge of Ojibway a definite asset but not a requirement

Be able to take direction and to work within the policies, procedures and philosophy of the Centre

Have a basic knowledge of the addiction, treatment and recovery process

Possess basic supportive counselling skills

Lead a non-abusive lifestyle and provide a positive role model for clients

Ability to work with a minimum of supervision

Capable of handling crisis situations calmly and effectively

Be willing to take further training

Possess initiative, self-discipline, responsibility and reliability

Current CPR and First Aid certification

Basic knowledge of social services and resources in the area served

A healthy, supportive attitude towards clients in recovery

Prepared to work overtime as required

Knowledge and understanding of the population served by the Centre

Possess good work habits such as regular attendance and punctuality

Ability to work in a team-oriented environment, as well as independently

Hep B immunization
