About this role

Are you a mechanically biased maintenance engineer who enjoys working independently, solving problems, and keeping critical plant operations running safely and efficiently?

At Arla Lockerbie, you'll join a site that plays a vital role in our dairy operations, supporting the Anaerobic Digestion (AD) Plant and associated utilities. Working as the dedicated M&E Technician on shift, you'll have the autonomy to manage maintenance activities, troubleshoot equipment issues, and drive improvements that maximise plant reliability and performance.

How you will make an impact

Based at our Lockerbie site, you'll be responsible for maintaining and improving the performance of the AD Plant and associated equipment, helping ensure safe, efficient and reliable operations every day.

- Execute planned, preventative and reactive maintenance across the AD Plant and supporting utility assets.
- Diagnose faults and carry out repairs on pumps, motors, mechanical systems and associated equipment to minimise downtime.
- Support plant reliability through structured problem solving, root cause analysis and continuous improvement activities.
- Complete maintenance activities including welding, component replacement and equipment refurbishment while maintaining high safety standards.
- Work closely with operational teams and engineering colleagues to optimise plant performance and ensure regulatory compliance.

What will make you successful

You will bring a recognised engineering qualification, apprenticeship, or equivalent practical experience within maintenance engineering. A mechanical bias will be particularly valuable, although multi-skilled experience would be highly beneficial.

You will have experience maintaining industrial equipment such as pumps, motors, conveyors, rotating machinery or utility systems within a manufacturing, utilities, process, waste, recycling, energy, water treatment, effluent treatment or similar environment. Experience working on an AD Plant, effluent treatment facility or comparable process operation would be advantageous but is not essential.

Just as importantly, you'll be proactive, dependable and comfortable working with a high degree of ownership.

You'll enjoy solving problems, balancing planned and reactive maintenance priorities, and collaborating with others to keep operations running smoothly.

What do we offer?

At Arla, we're committed to helping our people develop and build long-term careers. You'll have access to ongoing training and development opportunities, supportive leadership, and the chance to work within one of the world's largest dairy cooperatives.

You’ll enjoy a competitive salary, 24 days holiday, matched pension contributions up to 6%, life assurance, and flexible benefits. At Lockerbie, you’ll join a team proud of its high job satisfaction and steep learning curve, with plenty of challenges and support to help you succeed.
