CORE is seeking an experienced Employee Services Manager to lead Employee Services across our California offices, supporting employees in HR-related responsibilities from recruitment and onboarding through ongoing employment and departures. Based in our Roseville office, this full-time, in-person role partners with local leadership and national resources on employee administration, payroll coordination, benefits support, leave and accommodations. The ideal candidate has experience applying California employment requirements in the construction industry and is familiar with union employment and payroll practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Recruiting and Employee Transitions
- Responsible for job postings, active sourcing and screening, interview scheduling, and preparing offer letters.
- Personally coordinate orientation, onboarding documentation, approved background checks and drug screening, equipment and access, credit cards, and travel as needed. Partner with managers on first-day schedules and conduct 30/60/90-day check-ins.
- Coordinate logistics for career fairs and other recruiting events.
- Coordinate departures, including documentation, exit interviews with managers, equipment return, and payroll and benefits notifications.
Employee Service and Compliance
- Coordinate timecard submission and manager approval; support union time and wage entry and resolve discrepancies with payroll and project teams.
- Process approved title, compensation, allowance, and other employment changes in Workday. Maintain accurate, confidential employee records and reports with utmost discretion
- Answer routine benefits questions and connect employees with national resources for specialized assistance.
- Document employee concerns and promptly escalate to local leadership, involving national resources when needed.
- Manage leave and accommodation processes locally, including applicable California family and medical leave, pregnancy disability leave, and federal family and medical leave, with national resources available as needed.
- Own California employment compliance, including required documentation, notices, and training. Keep practices current with leadership and escalate matters requiring legal or specialized review.
- Coordinate performance review schedules, communications, documentation, and completion tracking.
- Partner with other CORE West Employee Services Managers on coverage, shared practices, and process improvements.
- Participate in national Employee Services meetings and travel to headquarters in Frisco, TX for national Culture and History events (usually 2-4 times per year)
Qualifications
- At least five years of human resources or employee services experience, including experience applying California employment requirements.
- Strong communication, organization, follow-through, and judgment; ability to protect confidential information, handle sensitive matters, and recognize when to escalate.
- Ability to work effectively with employees, managers, leadership, and national teams; proficiency with business software and employee record systems.
- Construction industry experience strongly preferred, including familiarity with union employment and payroll requirements
- Workday experience preferred
- A degree in human resources, business, or a related field is preferred
Compensation & Benefits
Annual base salary: $100,000–$125,000, based on relevant skills, qualifications, and experience. Eligible for a performance bonus based on regional and individual performance, subject to program terms.
