Reporting to: Laboratory Manager

About the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Laboratory Analyst to join our Laboratory team at Boulby. The successful candidate will provide analytical services and technical support to internal customers, ensuring accurate and timely laboratory analysis while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality and compliance.

This role would suit a candidate with laboratory experience who enjoys working in a fast-paced analytical environment and is keen to develop their technical expertise.

Key Responsibilities

- Conduct routine sample preparation and laboratory analysis.

- Perform analytical techniques including titration, Ion Chromatography (IC) and X-Ray Diffraction (XRD).

- Calibrate, maintain and troubleshoot laboratory equipment.

- Support local research and development and product development activities.

- Prepare weekly and monthly composite samples as required.

- Assist in maintaining ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems.

- Monitor and help manage laboratory consumables, chemicals and equipment.

- Participate in risk assessments and laboratory improvement initiatives.

- Maintain laboratory records and databases, including LIMS systems.

- Build effective working relationships with internal stakeholders across operations, geology, environmental, safety and commercial teams.

About You

Essential

- Degree in a STEM subject (Chemistry preferred).

- A-Level Chemistry.

- Experience working in a high-throughput analytical laboratory.

- Knowledge and practical experience of analytical techniques such as titration, IC and XRD.

- Understanding of QA/QC requirements and Good Laboratory Practice (GLP).

- Strong written and verbal communication skills.

- Proficient in Microsoft Office and laboratory software systems.

- Knowledge of quality systems and standards, including ISO 9001.

- Level 2 Skills for Life incorporating Numeracy, Literacy and ITQ.

- COSHH Assessment Training.

Desirable

- IOSH Working Safely Certificate.

- IOSH Environmental Training.
