About Syngene,
Incorporated in 1993, Syngene International Ltd. is an innovation-focused global discovery, development and manufacturing organization providing integrated scientific services to the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, nutrition, animal health, consumer goods and specialty chemical industries around the world. Syngene’ s clientele includes world leaders such as Bristol-Myers Squibb, Baxter, Amgen, GSK, Merck KGaA and Herbalife. Its innovative culture is driven by the passion of its 4240- strong team of scientists who work with clients from around the world to solve their scientific problems, improve R&D productivity, speed up time to market and lower the cost of innovation.
Job Purpose:
- BBRC is seeking an accomplished analytical and biophysical leader to establish and lead Molecular Interactions and Mass Spectrometry capabilities in support of early biotherapeutic discovery. The role will enable integrated analytical strategies that confirm molecular identity, quality, binding, function, comparability, and release readiness for research- and toxicology-grade biologics.
- The successful candidate will provide hands-on technical leadership across mass spectrometry, protein characterization, molecular-interaction analysis, analytical platform development, data interpretation, and cross-functional decision support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Establish and lead mass spectrometry, molecular-interaction, and integrated protein-characterization platforms for early biotherapeutic discovery.
- Develop fit-for-purpose strategies for identity, intact/subunit mass, peptide mapping, PTMs, glycan characterization, disulfide mapping, variants, conjugation, degradation pathways, and comparability.
- Establish SPR, BLI, and related biophysical assays to assess affinity, kinetics, specificity, competition, epitope relationships, avidity, and multispecific engagement.
- Deliver integrated analytical packages supporting candidate selection, manufacturability, toxicology-batch release, method suitability, data review, and program decision-making.
- Lead, coach, recruit, and develop a high-performing team while strengthening collaboration, safety, scientific rigor, reproducibility, inclusion, innovation, and compliance.
Educational Qualification:
Ph.D. in analytical chemistry, biochemistry, biophysics, structural biology, protein engineering, or a related discipline.
Experience:
6+ years
Technical/functional Skills:
Required:
- 6+ years of relevant biopharmaceutical, biotechnology, or advanced protein-analytics experience, including 3+ years leading scientists, technical teams, or matrixed analytical workstreams.
- Deep expertise in protein mass spectrometry, molecular characterization, intact-mass analysis, peptide mapping, sequence confirmation, PTM analysis, SPR/BLI, binding kinetics, affinity, assay artifacts, and quantitative interpretation.
- Experience integrating orthogonal protein-characterization data to support construct design, candidate selection, manufacturability, toxicology-batch release, comparability, and program decisions.
- Excellent scientific communication, data-review, cross-functional-influence, and people-leadership skills.
Preferred:
Experience with complex biologic formats, high-resolution/native/multi-attribute MS, glycan characterization, disulfide mapping, charge variants, toxicology-batch analytical release, CoAs, reference standards, GLP/GMP-adjacent documentation, analytical platform qualification, informatics, or demonstrated analytical-platform innovation.
Behavioral Skills:
Strong problem-solving and data analysis skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills, good presentation skills, and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and meet aggressive project timelines. Must demonstrate integrity and take accountability for their work
Equal Opportunity Employer:
It is the policy of Syngene to provide equal employment opportunity (EEO) to all persons regardless of age, color, national origin, citizenship status, physical or mental disability, race, religion, creed, gender, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity and/or expression, genetic information, marital status, status with regard to public assistance, veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by applicable legislation or local law.
