Job Title: Pharmacy Clerk Job Description
The Pharmacy Clerk supports pharmacy operations by performing high-volume data entry and handling inbound and outbound phone calls with members and providers. This role focuses on processing prior authorization decisions, accurately documenting outcomes, and delivering clear information to callers in a fast-paced, production-driven environment.
Responsibilities
- Perform accurate and efficient pharmacy-related data entry while working across two computer screens and multiple systems.
- Handle phone calls with members and providers to communicate prior authorization decisions, including approvals, denials, and requests for additional information.
- Document call outcomes and prior authorization decisions in the appropriate systems in a clear and timely manner.
- Follow established procedures and guidelines for pharmacy services and managed care processes.
- Adhere to strict production and performance goals, maintaining consistent output throughout the workday even after meeting targets.
- Provide professional, courteous customer service to members and providers, addressing questions and concerns related to pharmacy services.
- Use Microsoft Office and other computer applications to support administrative and order entry tasks.
- Collaborate with team members and leadership to ensure smooth workflow and consistent service quality.
- Maintain schedule adherence, including required breaks, start and end times, and any rotation requirements.
- Support basic printer and office equipment use as needed to complete administrative tasks.
Essential Skills
- Demonstrated pharmacy experience in a support, clerk, or related role.
- Proven data entry experience with strong accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong computer skills, including the ability to work efficiently on two screens and navigate multiple applications.
- Customer service experience handling phone calls with members, clients, or providers.
- Administrative support experience, including documentation and order entry.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Clear and professional written communication skills for documenting information and communicating decisions.
- Ability to perform in a production-driven environment and consistently meet performance metrics.
- Comfort working with health care and pharmacy-related information in a managed care setting.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in managed care or pharmacy services is a plus.
- Familiarity with prior authorization processes and terminology is beneficial.
- Ability to learn new systems and workflows quickly during training.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to work rotating weekends when available.
Work Environment
This position is fully remote and performed from a home office environment, using computer systems, dual monitors, and standard office software. Training follows an alternative schedule of 10:00 AM to 6:30 PM EST, Monday through Friday. After training, the regular schedule is 10:00 AM to 6:30 PM MST, Monday through Friday, with rotating weekends when available. The role operates in a highly production-driven environment where consistent performance and schedule adherence are essential. Team members work independently while staying connected virtually for communication and support. Benefits such as health, dental, and vision coverage may be available while on contract, and there is potential, though not guaranteed, for the role to transition to a permanent position. The work involves frequent computer use and phone communication, with no specific dress code required beyond maintaining a professional appearance for any video or virtual interactions.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
