Lancashire County Council is seeking to appoint 3 Sensory HLTAs to specifically work with children and young people who have a vision impairment. You will be joining the growing Vision Impairment Team within the Specialist Teaching Service (STS), working alongside and under the direction of a Qualified Teacher of Vision Impairment (QTVI). This is a Lancashire wide role, however, we are aiming to concentrate each post in one area (North, South, East).
The Specialist Teaching Service is a peripatetic teaching service that supports the local Authority and Lancashire Settings and Schools in meeting the needs of children and young people with special educational needs. The service consists of highly qualified and experienced Specialist Teachers, Senior and Higher Level Teaching Assistants, Deaf Role Model and Sensory Technicians. We work closely with parents and other agencies to support children and young people in a range of settings including at home, early years settings, schools and colleges. From birth we support the youngest children with SEND through Portage and early years sensory support.
The team of Sensory HLTAs as part of the Vision Impairment team is a new development within the service and provides an opportunity to be part of an exciting next step in our support for children and young people with a vision impairment in Lancashire.
