The NC Operator sets up and operates NC machines to produce precision parts, ensuring adherence to engineering specifications. Responsibilities include programming machines, performing inspections, troubleshooting, and maintaining safety and quality standards. The role also involves operating material handling equipment, recording production data, and supporting process improvements in a clean and organized work environment.
What You Will Be Doing
Here’s an overview of your responsibilities and how you can leverage your expertise:
- Performs all assigned duties in a safe and efficient manner, always adhering to safety protocols.
- Efficiently sets up and operates multi-axis NC lathes, NC milling machines, and NC grinders, ensuring all parts are produced to engineering drawings.
- Reads and interprets engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications to determine machining processes, tool requirements, and sequence of operations.
- Programs NC machines to create parts with precise tolerances and dimensions.
- Performs in-process and final inspections using precision instruments such as micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, and other measuring devices to ensure parts meet specifications.
- Troubleshoots and adjusts NC machine settings, ensuring optimal performance and part quality.
- Maintains open communication with management and colleagues, suggesting methods for process improvements, machine programming adjustments, and tooling enhancements.
- Keeps accurate records, such as production data, inspection reports, and maintenance logs, and follows 5S principles to ensure a clean and organized work area.
- Continuously works toward improving productivity and profitability by enhancing safety, reducing lead times, improving part quality, and minimizing manufacturing costs.
- Operates overhead cranes, fork trucks, and other material handling equipment as required for loading and staging materials for machining processes.
- Flexibility to work in other operational areas as needed and perform additional tasks as assigned.
- Executes layout operations as necessary to verify and measure parts in accordance with engineered drawings.

What We're Looking For
When selecting candidates, we will be looking for the following essential skills, abilities, and experience:
Education, Licenses, & Certifications:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent.
Experience:
- Prior work experience in NC machine operation and/or industrial manufacturing.
- Prior working experience in manual machine operation.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Strong interest in mechanical work and manufacturing processes.
Other Valued Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Successful completion of a post-secondary technical or vocational training program.
Physical Requirements:
- Mobility: Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and reach for extended periods, up to 8–10 hours.
- Manual Dexterity: Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for operating tools and precision instruments. Visual acuity for reading blueprints and using measuring equipment.
- Lifting/Carrying: Lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs independently.
- Environmental Factors: Work in a manufacturing shop environment with exposure to noise, dust, oil, machining debris, elevated temperatures, moving mechanical parts, cutting fluids, lubricants, and coolants. Must wear appropriate PPE, including safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and steel-toed boots
