What’s on the Menu?
The Tech U Maintenance Upskilling Program is an internal development opportunity for eligible Kraft Heinz employees who want to expand their industrial maintenance and equipment-reliability capabilities.
The program combines structured technical instruction with hands-on job learning at a Kraft Heinz manufacturing facility. Participants will strengthen their skills in mechanical systems, electrical systems, controls, preventive and predictive maintenance, precision maintenance, troubleshooting, equipment reliability, and continuous improvement.
Throughout the program, participants will learn alongside experienced Kraft Heinz maintenance technicians, operators, engineers, leaders, and instructors while completing any required coursework through the designated education partner.
Participants must complete all required coursework and training, apply what they learn in the plant, meet program milestones, and maintain the required academic and job-performance standards throughout the program.
What You’ll Learn and Do
- Throughout the program, you will progressively develop the skills needed to:
- Safely inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair assigned manufacturing equipment within your training and authorization.
- Apply mechanical fundamentals to power transmission, bearings, conveyors, pumps, valves, seals, and related equipment.
- Apply electrical fundamentals to industrial circuits, motors, sensors, switches, relays, and control devices.
- Build familiarity with automation and controls, including programmable logic controller fundamentals and human-machine interfaces, as applicable.
- Use technical drawings, schematics, equipment manuals, procedures, and diagnostic information.
- Use structured troubleshooting to identify equipment faults, determine likely causes, and complete or support authorized corrective work.
- Perform preventive and predictive maintenance tasks according to established standards and schedules.
- Apply precision-maintenance practices, including proper installation, alignment, adjustment, lubrication, and fastening techniques, as applicable.
- Support planned maintenance, equipment overhauls, modifications, and installations as assigned.
- Use computerized maintenance management systems to review, document, and close assigned work.
- Identify equipment defects and communicate conditions that could affect employee safety, food safety, product quality, reliability, or production performance.
- Partner with operators and other functions to restore equipment, reduce recurring losses, and improve asset performance.
- Apply problem-solving and root-cause analysis to equipment failures and chronic performance issues.
- Support continuous improvement efforts focused on safety, quality, reliability, effectiveness, and cost.
- Follow lockout/tagout, electrical safety, machine-safety, environmental, food-safety, and quality requirements.
- Maintain tools, parts, work areas, and documentation in accordance with site standards.
- Complete required training, assessments, coursework, qualification activities, and program milestones.
- As capabilities develop, participants may receive increasing responsibility and perform authorized work more independently.

Specific training may vary based on the Kraft Heinz location, production equipment, education partner, and operational needs.
Recipe for Success
Candidates must:
- Be a current Kraft Heinz employee in a maintenance, production, or other plant role approved for the program.
- Have at least nine months of employment with Kraft Heinz. Time worked through a temporary staffing agency does not count toward this requirement.
- Meet the site's active corrective-action and good-standing requirements under the applicable policy or collective bargaining agreement.
- Meet any required safety, attendance, qualification-card, or current-role performance standards established for the program.
- Inform your manager that you are applying. Manager notification does not replace the established selection process.
- Successfully complete applicable Tech U selection steps and assessments.
- Meet any academic prerequisites and enrollment requirements established by the education partner.
- Demonstrate an interest in developing technical operating and manufacturing skills.
- Be willing and able to complete classroom, hands-on, and job-learning requirements.
- Demonstrate reliable attendance, punctuality, and follow-through.
- Follow all Kraft Heinz safety, food safety, quality, attendance, and workplace requirements.
Experience That Can Help You Succeed
Current Kraft Heinz experience that can help you succeed includes:
- Performing industrial maintenance or supporting manufacturing equipment
- Completing preventive maintenance inspections and work orders
- Troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, or controls-related issues
- Using hand tools, power tools, precision-measurement tools, or diagnostic equipment
- Reading equipment manuals, technical drawings, schematics, or standard procedures
- Documenting work in a computerized maintenance management system
- Supporting equipment start-ups, shutdowns, changeovers, overhauls, or installations
- Participating in root-cause analysis, reliability, or continuous-improvement activities
- Working effectively with production, engineering, quality, sanitation, and leadership teams
