About this role
Overview: We are currently hiring an experienced Welder from a marine/shipyard background for a Weld Project Coordinator position in Newport News, VA. Description:
- Expedites the implementation of productivity and quality improvements in welding operations.
- Coordinates assigned projects from initiation through implementation, which may require initiation and coordination of equipment purchases/testing/modification, training program development, design changes, etc.
- Provides technical and hands-on assistance to Trades personnel in the implementation of automatic systems and new materials introductions.
- Assists in job planning, equipment set-up and the troubleshooting of problems incurred during implementation.
- May coordinate and expedite the movement of needed equipment and materials, and provision of required services.
- May function as a liaison between the Trades and other Company functions, such as Welding Engineering, Design, etc., to coordinate the resolution of technical problems.
Qualifications:
- US Citizenship.
- 8 years of relevant welding experience.
- A candidate must have knowledge of ship construction or ship repair methods, welding processes and equipment, and applicable welding and quality procedures.
- Great communication.
- Basic computer skills.

This is a Contract position based out of Newport News, VA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $50.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
