Job Title: Project Manager Retail / Commercial Real Estate (Non-IT) Job Description This Project Manager role focuses on delivering high-impact retail and commercial real estate projects, including remodels and new builds, across multiple locations in the United States. You will manage a portfolio of approximately 1012 small projects at any given time, taking ownership from initial planning through completion. The position offers a fully remote work arrangement with reimbursed travel as needed and a standard daytime schedule with some flexibility. You will lead cross-functional teams, collaborate closely with clients and stakeholders, and ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards while contributing to a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement. Responsibilities
- Lead multiple retail and commercial real estate projects, including remodels and new builds, from inception through completion.
- Deliver exceptional project management services that meet client expectations and organizational standards.
- Plan, budget, schedule, and oversee the execution of all aspects of assigned projects.
- Coordinate and collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure project goals are clearly defined and achieved.
- Ensure all projects are completed on time, within approved budgets, and in line with quality and safety standards.
- Provide clear leadership, direction, and guidance to project teams, empowering team members to perform at a high level.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, actively seeking to understand their goals, objectives, and constraints.
- Communicate project status, risks, and issues effectively to stakeholders and leadership, and drive timely resolutions.
- Apply strong problem-solving skills to address project challenges and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
- Champion a culture of collaboration, inclusivity, and belonging within project teams and across the broader organization.
- Manage and prioritize multiple concurrent projects, ensuring resources are allocated effectively and deadlines are met.
- Oversee project documentation, including RFIs and other construction-related communications, to maintain accurate project records.
- If the role includes hybrid sales responsibilities, drive revenue growth by sourcing and solutioning new business opportunities.
- Develop and maintain a robust opportunity pipeline and convert qualified opportunities into revenue through effective proposal generation and client engagement.
- Create effective partnerships with colleagues and other business lines to deliver integrated solutions and expand client relationships.
- Demonstrate ambition to grow the business, understanding that individual growth and revenue targets may increase annually.
Essential Skills
- Minimum of 7 years of project management experience, preferably in the commercial real estate or retail sector.
- Proven track record of successfully managing complex projects from inception to completion.
- Hands-on experience managing retail projects, such as remodels and new builds, for occupiers or third-party project management firms.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to guide, motivate, and support cross-functional project teams.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration with clients, stakeholders, and internal teams.
- Outstanding organizational and time management abilities to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills in fast-paced, dynamic environments.
- Bachelors degree in a related field such as Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or a similar discipline.
- PMP certification or an equivalent project management certification.
- Experience with project management processes, including planning, budgeting, scheduling, risk management, and quality control.
- Ability to work independently, hit the ground running, and quickly adapt to project demands without extensive training.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- SmartSheet experience, particularly for project tracking and reporting.
- Experience in commercial real estate project management.
- Masters degree in a related field such as Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or a similar discipline.
- Experience leading projects across multiple sectors, including office, retail, industrial, and healthcare.
- Demonstrated experience in change management and driving innovation within project environments.
- Knowledge of construction processes, building codes, and industry best practices.
- Proficiency with project management software and tools beyond SmartSheet.
- Experience in construction management, project coordination, and design-related activities.
- Familiarity with RFIs and other construction project documentation.
- Ability to generate a high volume of compelling proposals to support business development efforts.
- Established network and depth of client experience with local and national client bases.
- Proven track record of generating revenue and converting opportunity pipelines into closed business.
- Strong aptitude for problem-solving and strategic thinking.
- Ambition to grow professionally and contribute to increasing annual growth targets.
Work Environment This role operates in a fully remote work environment within the United States, with flexibility around an 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. schedule. You will work primarily from your home office using virtual collaboration tools and project management software, including platforms such as SmartSheet. The position involves periodic travel to project sites and client locations, which may fluctuate based on project needs; all required travel is reimbursed. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams through virtual meetings and digital communication, and participate in 12 round virtual interviews during the hiring process. Dress expectations are generally business-appropriate for client meetings and site visits, with suitable attire for construction environments when visiting active project sites.

This is a Contract position based out of Richmond, VA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $60.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
