Job Description
Your Role: Digital Infrastructure Engineer
Join the Outdoor Digital Infrastructure team and help keep the technology behind Global’s digital advertising estate reliable, resilient and ready to evolve. Reporting to the Head of Outdoor Digital Service Management, you will support infrastructure across the UK and Ireland, including London’s TfL travel network.
As a Digital Infrastructure Engineer at Global, you will:
Key Responsibilities
- Develop digital infrastructure: Document existing capabilities and business requirements, then implement new and improved digital infrastructure in line with agreed designs, standards and protocols.
- Resolve incidents and problems: Take ownership of third-line incidents through to resolution, coordinating with external suppliers where needed. Identify recurring issues, establish root causes and workarounds, and deliver or support permanent fixes.
- Manage change and deployment: Raise, plan, implement and review changes in line with agreed processes. Work closely with project, technology and on-site installation teams to deliver safe, reliable end-to-end deployments.
- Support operational teams: Provide technical expertise to first-line teams, particularly during live incidents and deployments, and maintain clear, useful documentation that supports effective service delivery.
- Deliver out-of-hours works: Take technical responsibility for planned installations and operational activities, including regular overnight work, ensuring delivery is safe, correct and to the required standard.
What You’ll Love About This Role
- Think Big: Help shape the digital infrastructure behind Outdoor advertising across the UK and Ireland.
- Own It: Take responsibility for technical delivery, service improvements and resolving issues that matter.
- Keep it Simple: Turn defined designs and processes into practical, dependable solutions.
- Better Together: Partner with project teams, suppliers, installers and colleagues across Global to deliver great outcomes.
What Success Looks Like
In your first few months, you’ll have:
- Built a strong understanding of Global’s core Outdoor digital infrastructure and key documentation.
- Achieved the required Sentinel certification for safe working on the railway.
- Become confident using core applications, including the relevant content management system.
- Developed an understanding of IP schemas, connectivity relationships and project requirements.
- Contributed improvements to team documentation and resolved common incident types independently.
What You’ll Need
- Infrastructure experience: Experience supporting Windows desktop and server environments, Linux operating systems and core infrastructure technologies such as DNS, DHCP, HTTP(S), IIS or Apache.
- Network and remote support skills: Confidence using remote management tools, networking technologies and scripting tools such as PowerShell to diagnose and resolve issues.
- Technical delivery: Experience implementing technical solutions, integrating off-the-shelf products and supporting small to medium-sized technical projects.
- Service management: Experience working with an IT service management tool and within an ITIL-aligned environment, including incident, problem and change management.
- Digital platform knowledge: Experience supporting digital advertising, digital signage or a comparable content management platform in a live environment.
- Collaborative approach: Able to work effectively with technical and non-technical colleagues, suppliers and customer-facing teams, prioritising work according to impact and risk.
- Continuous learning: Proactive about developing technical, industry-specific and safety knowledge. ITIL Foundation, relevant Microsoft certifications and a Level 3 IT qualification or equivalent are beneficial.
