About this role

Senior technical professional responsible for the architecture, design, implementation, optimization, and operational support of the organization's enterprise network infrastructure. Serves as a subject matter expert for complex networking technologies and leads the planning, execution, and support of strategic infrastructure initiatives. Provides technical leadership, mentors engineering staff, and ensures the availability, resiliency, scalability, and security of wired, wireless, WAN, LAN, SD-WAN, data center, and cloud-connected network environments.
Education, Experience and Training: Education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Information Technology, Network Engineering, or in a job-related field of study. Five (5) years of related experience in designing, implementing, and supporting complex enterprise network environments. Experience leading enterprise infrastructure projects, supporting large-scale Cisco networking environments, cloud networking, wireless technologies, and network security solutions preferred. Certifications (Preferred): • Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP Enterprise) • Aruba Certified Professional or Expert • AWS Advanced Networking – Specialty • Microsoft Azure Network Engineer Associate, or equivalent advanced networking certifications. Special Requirements/Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Must possess a valid Texas Driver’s License and good driving record. Will be required to provide a copy of 10-year driving history. Must maintain a good driving record and remain in compliance with Article II, Subdivision II of Chapter 90 of the Dallas County Code. “Individuals holding or considered for a position which has, or may have, access to criminal justice databases including the FBI Criminal Justice Information Systems, NCIC/TCIC and similar databases, must pass a national fingerprint-based records check prior to placement in such position and may be denied placement in such positions and/or access to such systems. Individuals must also maintain the ability to pass the records check while in the position or until such time that the Commissioners Court and the County Civil Service Commission deem this position no longer has this requirement.” Knowledge of advanced enterprise network architecture and operations; WAN, LAN, WLAN, SD-WAN, software-defined networking, routing and switching, BGP, OSPF, multicast, network segmentation, data center networking, high availability and redundancy technologies, disaster recovery and data protection operations, information security principles as they pertain to enterprise network environments, Zero Trust architecture, cloud networking technologies, network automation, infrastructure as code concepts, project management methodologies, market research and product evaluation techniques, and the interaction of network infrastructure with enterprise systems and cloud services. Ability to architect, implement, optimize, secure, and troubleshoot complex enterprise network environments; lead large infrastructure projects; develop engineering standards and operational procedures; perform market research and technology evaluations; analyze enterprise risks and recommend strategic solutions; mentor engineers and technical staff; communicate effectively with executive leadership, business stakeholders, and technical teams; manage competing priorities; and exercise exceptional analytical, organizational, leadership, and problem-solving skills. Physical/Environmental Requirements: Work is primarily performed in an office and data center environment and requires the ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, reach, and occasionally lift equipment weighing up to 40 pounds. The position may require work in telecommunications rooms, participation in after-hours maintenance activities, on-call support, disaster recovery exercises, and occasional travel between organizational facilities.
