About this role
Description
Are you ready to tackle complex challenges that protect Amazon's customers and business at scale? We are looking for a thoughtful, data-driven Sr. Risk Manager who thrives in ambiguity and is energized by building programs from the ground up. In this role, you will own the lifecycle of cross-functional risk programs, define strategies where none yet exist, and drive measurable risk reduction across the organization. You will partner with legal, engineering, and business teams to interpret regulations, design controls, and ensure compliance — all while balancing customer experience with sound risk management. If you are a collaborative problem-solver who communicates with clarity and influences decisions at the director and VP level, we want to hear from you.
Key job responsibilities
- Define and manage the lifecycle of cross-functional risk programs, setting objectives, establishing success metrics, and driving quantifiable risk reduction across your portfolio.
- Partner with legal teams, policy owners, and regulators to interpret applicable laws, regulations, and business policies, then translate them into business impact and actionable program controls.
- Collaborate with teams to prioritize risk projects, oversee control roll-outs, and measure their effectiveness through data-driven analysis.
- Identify opportunities to streamline workflows and reduce operational complexity while strengthening the overall risk posture.
- Communicate risk strategies, trade-offs, and recommendations through clear narratives and presentations to directors and VPs, aligning stakeholders toward coherent risk reduction outcomes.
A day in the life
You might start your morning reviewing control effectiveness dashboards and identifying areas that need attention. By mid-morning, you are in a working session with legal counsel interpreting a new regulatory requirement and scoping what it means for your program. After lunch, you draft a narrative for senior leadership outlining a proposed control rollout, then jump into a cross-functional alignment meeting with engineering partners to prioritize implementation timelines. Throughout, you balance strategic thinking with hands-on problem-solving.
